Ok... went to visit the Guggenheim Museum in NYC this past weekend and is sad that...
...a 30+ yr-old masterpiece in architecture is better than the work shown in it.
Seriously.
There is so much crap (excluding the permanent collection in the annexes) that passes for art in this place that its pathetic. The current exhibitions are lame, souless, and recycled (skip the Bill Viola videos at all cost).
No wonder Wright said asked if the paintings or art hung on the walls were deserving of being in his masterpiece.
At $12 a pop, the gratification came on seeing the Piccasos, the Monets, the Manets, the Mondrian paitings, and the building itself. Breathtaking.
Go to the MOMA instead.
