Teves is a given. I dig that guy a lot.

But this Kazuhiro Tsuji guy - I've never heard of him before, but Jesus Christ on a hot plate is that phenomenal! eek!

Did I miss a link on the site to how the whole process is done?

I'm assuming he does a lifecast and reference photos for hair, pigment and eye color, re-sculpts the positive to compensate for gravity or closed eyes...what kind of mold would you make for a silicone project? I've never worked with silicone before. Do you know the guy? Or what he would charge...

He doesn't say how it is done. I can tell you this, I'm pretty known for my fake heads, but this guy kicks my butt so bad! I use this sort of thing to improve my work. It depresses me and then gives me inspiration. I can tell you how I would do it. I start with a lifecast in alginate and then pour casteline into the mold. I then resculpt the eyes to make them open and fix the imperfections, etc. I then make a silicone mold and pour silicone into that. I then paint the head with silicone based paints and hand punch the hair. The eyes would be made separately and the silicone cut to fit the eyes. That is really tricky and I am coming up with a better way to do it. The whole process is very expensive. I can tell you that the going rate for a full head lifecast is about $1,600. That is only for the cast and not everything else. I don't know what he charges, but he's worth it. (BTW he's the one who did Tim Roth's make up for "Planet..." I hope that this gives you a little idea of what is involved.

Kazuhiro Tsuji head work is fucking amazing. The head on a display is creepying me out.

I could only imagine how difficult it must be to create a lifelike face compared to something easier to a alien face. I mean if a fake human head is just a little off then it comes off as cheesy.
