The Official Praise the Lakers Thread...or just nitpick!

Go ahead. Say what you wish about one of the greatest teams ever. Watch how Sacramento will always wish to be this but never be. Watch Portland forever kneel before their masters reluctantly. Watch the Spurs hang head in yet another defeat to their incredible foe. Watch Dallas airball as they get that sinking feeling that they can't stop two of the greatest players to play today.

Should I even bother mentioning anyone from the East. Or are they beneath notice?

You decide!
They are waaaaaay beneath notice.

Sacramento and Dallas I think each have a chance to beat LA, but that's it.

Beat em one game? Maybe two?

I mean I really want this team to kill some people in basketball(that and the people who bet on the wrong team with no money to bet with)

Basketball I love and this team with Shaq and Kobe really make it nearly impossible to beat.

Plus I like seeing all those Dallas and Sac people with next to nothing for a life(not all mind you) ringing their cow bells and whatever they do in Dallas shut up. It's incredible how much smack is talked by other teams but the Lakers, who have every reason in the world to talk the trash, don't. That's why I like them so much anyways besides how they play.

Thanks for posting!
The Lakers will three-peat, but it won't be easy. Don't look for them to steamroll through the playoffs like last year. Kings or Mavs will get a game, maybe two, but nobody can beat the Lakers in a seven game series.

Shaq and Kobe just pose to many matchup problems. Besides the fact that the Lakers, despite their offense sometimes, can turn it on defensively when they need to and shut teams down. Defense wins championships, and neither the Kings nor the Mavs are known for their defensive prowess.

As far as the east is concerned... Pathetic.

Heehee...

Actually, I hate basketball so I don't even care.

But from what I've seen if the Lakers didn't have Shaq and his big ass they wouldn't be what they are.

BTW: Shaq just had Jesse James make about the biggest chopper ever built.

Boo man from Sacramento!! BOOOOO!!!!!!

It's all fun and games till Shaq's toe keeps him out of some games down the stretch.

You saw what happened in the regular season...they are very unsuccessful without him.

Don't forget, the Lakers had a horrible record this season against teams like the Bulls, Grizzlies, or Cavs. You think people in the East can't give them a run for their money?

Think again.

Oh and if the Lakers didn't have Kobe it would be the same thing.

Great teams also have great players so thats usually how it works anyways.

A championship team does not have non championship players.

Simple as that.

On another note....Have we seen the Yao Ming guy from China?

They're saying he might be the only answer to Shaq.

Interesting...
I don't know about him until I see him in action..I only saw some footage of the public workout he was involved...but yeah, they are saying he is the next Shaq.

Yeah right.
chinese gov't is talking 30% of his salery their nation league 20% or around that. That's terrible i think. What if he decided not to give it to them, or to become and american citizen? Sure even with 50% he'll still be well off, but he will be earning it, why can't he keep it?
That was a well-crafted set of repeats...do you work for PBS?

Damn, they're playing like shit...38-32 at the half but they are playing very sloppily.

All you L.A. chewers/Lakers fans can hide behind the fact that they had a week-long layoff, but that excuse only lasts so long.... wink

And my Lakers win again against not only a decent team but also themselves and the lack of their best two players at certain points in the game.

Watch out for Bryant Spurs fans he is looking mighty meaner all of a sudden and that will not bode well for you.

Can anyone give me the reasoning why our sportscasters and sportswritiers love bashing our own team even a lot of times when they win?

Yes I can understand saying that they expect a lot but you know what I am really tired of hearing them singing the praises of teams that do incredibly crappy in the long run and the Lakers go on to win a new ring and championship gold?

Sigh

Oh well.

It is LA.
Oh! What happened? They aren't going to sweep their way through this time!

Oh! Oh No!

I bet you they lose this series. If the Spurs win Game 3, they will DEFINITELY lose it all.

Well, I for one wasn't expecting them to sweep any of their series, so this wasn't a surprise. However they still managed to make it a close game, despite the fact that they played like shit.

Nevermind that they got absolutely NO love from the officials, because the NBA wanted to make sure that Timmy Duncan appeared worthy of his MVP award. Besides that, how the fuck do you allow them to fake a timeout, with their coaching staff on the floor, and count the basket and a foul?!?!

No biggie, LAKERS will take it in 5.

Mind you I didn't say that they would sweep. I just said it was a possiblity.

Yes and that itself could have been a four point swing to the Lakers. 4 points. In other words the game. But whatever. Vis you are exactly right that the refs gave no love at all. Seemed like the first half was exactly based on that. No calls. Stupid.

Anyways they will win Verb because if you heard Kobe's little outburst to the locker room after the loss you will know that he is coming out swinging in SA. Maybe just like last year. We shall see.

40+ points last year by one player. Remember that.

Won again.

Kobe will be perhaps the greatest player ever.

Though I will go on record to say that to truly figure that out would take a miracle considering how much play has changed and rules and whatever other factors you can make mention of.

And yea yea yea everyone hates Kobe for some dumb reason or other.

Always taking Shaq's side...

Hrmph!

That was not a luck shot by Robert Horry and luck is not coming back from 24 points down to win.

So they lost it and are trying to convince themseleves everything is alright

Yes it was either way.

And I will admit I enjoy watching the Kings facing the Lakers. I literally have not been this enthralled and worried my team might not win since the Portland series 2000. Incredible comeback for the Lakers. Here's MY hoping they continue this.

We'll know once we're into the first quarter of this one how this will be.

It seems Phil Jackson receieved a call from the head office:

Jackson: "Hello?"

Stern, "Phil, David Stern here."

Jackson: "Hey, what's up..."

Stern, "Don't worry Phil, the fix is in."

Jackson: "Won't it look particularly obvious though?"

Stern: "Yeah, but without review who's gonna care? Besides, there's too much money involved with the Lakers to allow them to be eliminated. We'll just prolong it a bit with Sacramento."

Jackson: "Good job Dave, see ya at Arco."

Just bad free throwing...at least the officials let both teams play the game.

Oh, and if I were Gavin or Joe I'd buy Mike Bibby a big-assed house! That little sucker was the most productive player throughout the entire series.

So who wants to guess as to who will received the MVP this year in the Finals?

My money is on Kobe since if it weren't for him there would be no way they would have won the first two series.

Kobe the best b-ball player on the planet.
Shaq the most dominant player on the planet.

Both will will co-MVP of the finals. Is there anyone else, seriously?
