Schoolboy suspended for sex essay that embarrassed headmistress

A 15-year-old schoolboy suspended for writing an essay his headmistress dubbed "sexually offensive" has been flooded with calls of support since his story became public, it was reported today.
Mike Scherger's English class at Cambridge High School was told to write a story entitled "How does your body betray you?"
His story about a teenager who was embarrassed when called to the front of his class at school because he had an erection was deemed "totally inappropriate" by headmistress Alison Annan, who suspended him for five days.
When his parents protested, she told them their views were "clearly more liberal than mine" and he could return to school if he took counselling, the Waikato Times reported.
His mother, Heather, a nurse, told the paper: "What he wrote about was real life. It happens."
His father, Peter, said if the situation moved "even further past the point of silliness" the family might contact a lawyer.
"The whole situation is completely irrational. They are killing a flea with a bomb here," he said.
