How much older are we talking here? Cos I like a guy, generally, to be a few years older than me, though in the main the people I end up with tend to be younger. My last boyfriend was nearly ten years younger than me.

The stability and maturity thing is cool. Guys age well usually, and keep their muscle tone longer, so you can enjoy the foremost advantages along with the lattermost together.

Maybe guys have to wait longer to be cool, and women are attracted to cool.

But I'm just talking about 5- 10 years ahead of me, any more than that, and I suspect we might have trouble finding things in common.

That's an impertinent question to ask a lady!

Actually, I'm slightly older than the Moonshot.

Well, I was born in 1967, but the Moonshot is actually the most interesting event I could think that happened around about then. (When was the Summer of Love?)

Actually, I think I remember the Moonshot. I have this memory of being outside (we were in the States, at this point, in Long Beach) and the telescope being set up on the front lawn. It was night, and my Dad picked me up around the waist and held me to the telescope, and I saw something that looked like a star, only in front of the Moon, a little glowing white light.

My Dad asked me, "Helen, do you see the man on the Moon?"

My father now professes to have no memory of this event (holding me up and saying this, hell, he remembers the Moonshot), but then I have always been lucky with my memory, and I remember a few other things from being a baby/toddler. I'm pretty sure it was the Moonshot, but I was really young, and my memories don't hang together that well going so far back. (Into the mists of prehistory, seemingly...)

Alternatively, this memory could actually be Tyrrel's niece's.

And I will shut up, as this post in no way advances popular thought on why Anna Nicole Smith or Catherine Zeta Jones hooked up with the guys they did.

Maybe it was a having three names thing.

Apparently, since he's a stickler for conformity, he liked to call me by the name on my birth certificate.

Why do women like older men? Because we don't give them wedgies? Or Nooggies? Because when we take them out to a nice dinner, we don't have to charge burritos on our gas card for the next week, just to eat.

Because we appreciate them more. No, I mean of them, not just one little bit of them or maybe three bits.

Because we can listen, really listen, not just stare at their breasts and understand them and not just wonder why they can't see how wonderful we are because of what we want or what we think.

Because we aren't just looking for a substitute mommy to do our laundry and cook for us.

Because, security and a good enviroment are important to most women at some point in their lives.

Because we know how important it is to make them laugh. Really laugh and not just by tickling them.

Because many women really want to have kids and older men start wishing they had begat more children as they get older.

Because we don't have to wait until the money starts to come in to get married, or buy a house or start a family.

Because of the Daddy issue. Yes, its real.

The above reasons were brought to you via Will, from Blofeld who said them.

Another question is why do older men like younger girls. Because sometimes we can get them!
Age is just a number.

Really. It doesn't matter to me how old the man is, as long as he is mature enough to match what I am expecting. My ex was a year older than me (I'm 30, thank you very much), but he acted like he was perpetually stuck at 16. I dated a man 7 years older than me. I found him to be as immature as my ex. The man I am currently having a relationship with is 9 years younger than me. He suits me just fine.

Besides, if I feel I am having Daddy issues, I'll go see my Daddy.

I've only dated younger men. I think it's because I look so young, that if I were to date an older man he'd be arrested for being a pederast.
I'm not kidding.
lol

I think it all boils down to age=wisdom thing.

But I sometimes find it hard to see women dating men twice or sometimes three times their age.
Having just gotten out of high school, I can tell you one of the most annoying things in the world is a girl who dates older guys. There were so many nice looking girls in my class...but they all had THINGS for older guys. That irritated me to no extent.

You know what else pissed me off and confused me? These fuckin' girls who would date underclassmen. WTF?
So basically anyone who won't date you.

A ho is a girl who fucks everybody. A bitch is someone who fucks everybody but you.

For me, yea. I was raised by a single mother so older men are attractive to me for security reasons. Not wealth, security...maybe a sense of protectiveness....Or something, I dunno.

I love both younger and older men though

for most of my life i have dated older guys, but for some reason more and more i have been attracting men younger than me. needless to say i am very flattered. i tend to have more to talk about with older guys. but then i find that i have more in common with younger guys. plus they tend to be more adventuresome and willing to do things my way. so it's a toss up...
Exactly, Mz. D...younger men mean you can train them to do what you want!
I must be one of those weird women who doesn't want a man to be trainable. I want them to know the ropes regardless of their age. I just have no desire for a man that I can boss around, which is weird because I am kinda bossy.

Fuckin' A, Shelby.

I find bossing men around in bed to be desperately non-erotic. As opposed to some kind of bondage-lite thing, cos that's a different trip.

But in the main, no. I'm very girly that way. I expect them to know their way around, or at the very least be interested in looking for the way around without me having to bark orders at them through a megaphone.

Sorry for the rant, but sex with pusillanimous men is one of those things I hate this every fibre of my being.

Hey, did I say that?

Nope, I was just contributing to the conversation with one of my pet peeves. And I'll have you know that I could have been up to my neck in underclasswomen you-know-what-I just chose not to because feeling like a child molester just ain't my style.

I find it funny that Will, one of the jesters of the board, was the first guy to answer this question seriously. *bows to Will*

"Alternatively, this memory could actually be Tyrrel's niece's."

Pop culture ref of the day! *bows to Alice*

*Square dance tune starts up in the backround. Shoots band.*

I can't really answer this question, though, as my bag's been mixed with older and younger, and I'm a strange case, anyways.

Question: Why do guys like older women?

Confidence.
i never said that i bark orders at men in the bedroom. i just like the fact that younger men seem more willing to listen to my suggestions. like lick me a ilttle more slowly... or bite my neck... older men often have a routine they stick to. i like to have a minimum of three positions in one session, and not the same ones in the same order every time. i want a guy that is willing to try anything and not whine about his back getting thrown out or his war injury flairing. of course older men do come wiht a certain ammount of know how that younger guys lack. so it's still a toss up for me...
I never said anything about being bossy in bed. In fact, I don't say much at all. Just lots of heavy breathing. wink

I find that older men are set in their ways. They know what they want and are less willing to experiment. Younger men (and I'm talking 21 and up here) are more willing to please you because they are just so happy they are getting laid.

Older men can last longer. Younger men can get it back up more easily. Really, it's a question of quality vs. quantity.
Sorry, ladies, I didn't mean to misrepresent your views, Shelby just mentioned that she *doesn't* like to boss guys and I went off on my personal rant.

I guess nobody likes pusillanimous men in bed. And I'm not a bit surprised.

Well I'm on the opposite side of these train tracks.

I have a girlfriend 7 years older though she calls me a 40 year old trapped in a 20 year old body. I'm inclined to agree sometimes.

So looking at us you could say there are a lot of issues of why I would want an older woman and she the younger guy. Looks like we should be getting engaged sooner or later (knock on wood) so that'll be interesting.

Hey, I *like* browsing the dictionary.
Although a good vocabulary doesn't equate to intelligence, it does tend to be a sign of it, and intelligence is not only sexy, it's necessary, IMHO.

Will, I don't know you or your posting style but this was very wise and truthful. It's nice to hear someone from the other side tell it like it really is. Personally, the daddy issue does not come into play at all, but it does for some women. Just as there are women that have dollar signs for eyeballs. Sad fact of life. Older men more often than not make better lovers. The younger ones may be more exciting, but the older ones genuinely care about their partners needs. Older men listen, pamper, nourish and feed the soul. The woman always comes first in every thought, every action and every deed. They make their mates feel like true partners rather than play toys. The given truth that so many have yet to learn is that the true art of making love lies in the head and heart..not between the legs.
Avalon said. "The given truth that so many have yet to learn is that the true art of making love lies in the head and heart..not between the legs."

How true, It is where all "art" begins, then and only then can the physical activity result in art. Otherwise it is just random motion, like my neighbor's dog on people's legs. He's been fixed, but remains obviously confused and frustrated and he is not discriminating at all. Sort of like most guys.

You know, I just realized something and now I have a question. When women have a male animal's nuts removed, why do they called him "Fixed?" Hmmmmmmmmmmm!
I know. NOW he's broken.

What's ironic about all this is that, although a lot of women like older men, statistically, women have a greater chance of living longer.
Blargh.
Let's give this a new take. BTW I was looking for the hostel 2 post-release thread and I didn't find it.
Because we're better looking, have more money, fuck better, are usually smarter and more interesting, aren't transparently desperate or in a hurry, have better manners, etc. etc. Put a guy in his mid 30s (who isn't fat or bald or living with his parents or his parents' putrefying corpses) in a group of twentysomethings and that guy will come off looking like James Bond. Every. Single. Time.

It's my understanding that dude Will was regarded as crazy or something, but he was correct in a lot of his post. No new take needed.
It's all about the older guy snaring them when they are a bit younger. Or MONEY! Either or.
