Disney World and other Orlando stuff...

Hey folks!

I have a friend who is planning a trip to Orlando during Spring Break. He wants to take his son to Disney World and Universal Studios.

Anyone in the area have any insight as to the best places to stay, best ways to get around and any other insider info?

I would appreciate anything you can offer in the way of advise...

Poxy will just tell you to go to Universal.

My advice is to get one of the guidebooks to Walt Disney World. There are guidebooks for adults w. children. Guidebooks for adults sans children. Guidebooks for children sans adults. There are guidebooks for the physically challenged. Guidebooks for the unphysically challenged. Official guidebooks. Unofficial guidebooks. Guidebooks exclusively for Walt Disney World. Guidebooks for Walt Disney World and the Orlando area. If you want your own guidebook, then check your local bookstore. If you only want to borrow a guidebook for a few weeks, then check your local library. And enjoy your next trip to Walt Disney World.

How old is the kid? That will go a long way towards determining what the best plan is. If we're talking under 10, stick with the Magic Kingdom -- the other Disney parks and Universal are really not all that much fun for small children. If the kids in his teens, they'll never forgive you if you don't take them to Islands of Adventure.

I will warn you that the parks are fairly busy during Spring Break, but not to the hellish extent they will be during the summer. There will be lines though, count on it. Then again, there's the added benefit of lots of college girls trying to stay cool by wearing bikini tops everywhere.
