East Coast Massive Gathering

Thread Starter
If someone were to organize an event similar to CHUDWest (even though we couldn't call it that) for people on this side of the country, who would be even remotely interested and what sort of thing would you like the event to be? Movies, food, etc.

I remember Mr. Butane and his creeture tried to plan something for fall of last year, but it sort of fell apart. I thought I would politely broach the topic and see if anyone was interested.

I'd prefer some kind of weekend gathering with a variety of activities, including a dinner/movie night out and a cook-out/dinner party at a gracious host's house, to be followed by movie watching and game playing. Just a big Chewer hangout session.

I'm game. Completely. And New York would be sweet.
we should all go to Universal Studios!

While that would be interesting, I'd have to say that since they had the CW in L.A., why not have the East in NYC? Or not...

I wonder if everyone on this side of the country shows up if all opinions will clash and we'll have a big brawl...

Anyways, is there a general consensus?

He is the deal. I'm planning a trip some time the end of this year, preferably when NYC has good weather. I will be staying about a week. It would be great if we had some kind of get together then. I think it would give us plenty of time to create a Chud East. One to rival Chud West.

billy love, e-mail me pronto. Let's do this.
This is cool-- by then (the Fall, I guess) I will have already been driving for 8 or 9 months, so i'll be able to make the trip.

Or it might be easier to just take a train.

Either way, this will kick ass when we do it.

Verbal, since we're in the same area, we could train or drive up together.

This sounds cool.
Make it happen! (Although I kindathin CHUDEast should be in GA where the great NN lives, but that's just me.)

I'll email you this evening.

I too will probably be taking the train.
Ahhh! More tourists!

I'd love to have this happen...i'd be down for whatever. (Yes, even with you there, Verbal)

Rath I just sent you an email. Sorry for the delay.

Hell, I feel the same way. I'm sure you're a cool guy despite the little scuffle in the Culture forum.
Standing tall in the southernmost point in all of CHUDdom, I probably wouldn't be able to make it up there. See I have this......errrr.....ummm.... "ball and chain", a symbol of which is asphyxiating my finger.

Universal Studios is a possibility. Maybe Poxy can sneak us all in.

Hey...When are you guys looking to plan this for?

I ask as Myself and Girlcreech go to NYC for a week in May for our work. (Staying in the lovely Millenium Broadway overlooking...blah blah blah!) And we usually have the wonderful Johnny Butane come on up for a few days as well.

We work during the day but our nights are ours and we make the best of em. LOVE NYC.
last Year we hit Arlenes Grocery for Monday night Live Punk rock karaoke and always ended up at the Korova Milk Bar at the end of the nights...

I am sure there are a million things to do- But hey...I am in when it happens...

I'll keep checking back
later

What's the situation with this idea? I'm in MA, but can easily drive to NY or any other relatively close city, if need be. Keep us updated, ok? I'd love to participate!

Well who's planning this? I guess Rath is out for now...

I can't offer up a place to hang out, there's just no room in my house. I can pick out some theaters and bars and stuff in the city if you people want....I'd really love for this to happen.

I'm never out. CHUD's like the mafia.

Anyhow, I talked to billy love briefly and if i remember correctly, we decided to hold off on this until the fall, as that is when he is coming up. However, if someone would like to take the reins for a new york-jersey-ne-pa gathering, go for it...
why is it that people from the west can can successfully plan and carryout 2 gatherings of chewers, and people from the east coast... well, can't do shit?

We only JUST started talking about, it took you guys months to plan yours.
And we don't have a millionnaire like Will offering free food and a huge mansion for folks to play in. Most of us are just poor, working schlubs.

I still think the east coast gathering should be in GA, where the majority of CHUD's eastcoast elite live. NY is just too expensive for this type of gathering.
If it's in GA I can do it. Otherwise not so much.
A GA gathering won't cost me much. The NY trip however, will.

I agree, since GA is the home of CHUD, though it would be fun to go back to NYC for a visit.
Georgia would be no problem for me at all.
NY would be much, much easier for me, but I understand the Georgia thing. Either way, keep me (us) posted so I have some concept of what's up. It would be pretty cool to meet you guys.
Everytime I see this thread I think it says East Coast Magic: The Gathering.

Carry on.
it is the time of the Gathering. break out the Toledo Salamanca and meet me on the Silvercup.
How about the DC/Baltimore/Philadelphia area?
I'm in Philly, so obviously NYC is easier for me. But I'd be interested in anything.

We need an East Coast millionaire...
This is the issue we always run into when we discuss this, sadly. "East Coast" seems to broad a term, because no one can decide where to have it. For example, New York is not an issue for myself and the Creeture, but Georgia sure is. The main issue that needs to be worked out is who has a place big enough for a gathering like this, and would they be willing to host it?
i still vote for New Orleans.
We could go during Mardi Gras.

TITTIES!

Well if we do this in warm weather, my backyard could hold a sitdown thing for 15-20 folks easily. If we just want a BBQ, with people milling about type thing, I've had 50 people back there. That said, it is NYC, so the backyard has no grass and the view is of a brick wall.

The biggest problem though is housing. NY hotels are very expensive.
Well, I've got housing in NYC. And Philly. And Natch, DC.

So....anywhere is fine!
