Greenville, SC - SUSPIRIA - October 29th

Just in time for Halloween, I'll be showing Dario Argento's Suspiria, one of the scariest damn movies ever made.

This is part of my bi-weekly series of FREE film screenings at Coffee Underground here in Greenville, SC.

This takes place on Tuesday, October 29th and the movie starts at 8:00PM.

Anyone who could show up, it'd be appreciated. If you need more info, just e-mail me and I'll be glad to give you any details/directions.

I'd absolutely LOVE to have a bunch of CHUDders up at CU, especially for a movie like Suspiria! So who's gonna be able to make it!?

Oh, did I mention it's FREE?

I was there, but late. I was wondering who Justin L. Bishop is? Did you present the film? If so I think I shook your hand afterwards.

More Argento!

So get THIS SHIT.

Coffee Underground double-booked their theater for the night. Apparently, the GERMAN LANGUAGE club or something has an "agreement" with C.U. that says that they get the theater the last Tuesday of every month. So they got the damn room tonight EVEN THOUGH I booked it at the BEGINNING OF AUGUST and EVEN THOUGH I showed up at 7:00 when the German fella didn't show up 'till 7:30 (half hour later than he was SUPPOSED to be there).

Regardless, I'm pretty fuckin' pissed. The people who showed the movie tonight (which was Werner Herzog's Nosferatu: Phantom Der Nacht, which, ironically, was a movie that I showed less than a month ago) don't know much of anything about film and they're actually the ones that inspired ME to start showing films in that theater (I figured they needed someone that knew what the FUCK they were doing).

So Billy Love, if you showed up tonight, you didn't see Suspiria. What you saw was Nosferatu which is a pretty decent movie but it sure as hell ain't Suspiria. I had planned on showing three horror films during October and I was saving the best for the last. Unfortunately, those Language Club bastards screwed it all up for me.

The manager at C.U. (this wasn't her fault at all) felt really bad about it and said that if I wanted, I could stay 'till AFTER their movie and show my own and I could stay as late as I needed (which would've been an hour to an hour and a half after they closed) but I figured that nobody would be there anyway! Besides, I was pretty pissed, so I just went home.

Also, Billy Love, the guy you met was probably the Language dude that screwed this all up for me. LOL That guy's about twice my age. When you look for me, look for 20 (21 in two weeks -- whoohoo!) year old skinny bald guy that strangely resembles Moby.

Sorry if any other Chewers showed up tonight and got Herzog instead of Argento. Things were beyond my control. I'll try my best not to ever let this happen again.

P.S. The next screening is on November 12th and I'm showing Apocalypse Now: Redux. So you'll have to put away your Fellowship of the Ring Extended Edition and Episode II DVDs to come out and enjoy some Coppola magic.

Damn! Now you know I've never seen any Argento stuff.

Anyway, good film, and next time I will get there early so we can chat and stuff.

P.S. Great website.

Damn, that's fucked up. Well at least you got to see Noseferatu, B. Collins. German Language club? Damn.

Yeah, I was wondering where in the hell Argento got the name Suspiria out of Noseferatu?!

Serves me right for showing up late. At least the coffee was good.

...do they still have Moc-Con in Greenville? That was one of the scariest weekends of my life, and Bruce Campbell and I have yet to recover.
I have NO idea what Moc-Con is, so I doubt that it's still going on around here.

So...what is it?

And Billy, thanks for the comment about the website. I do try. :-D

Oh, wow that sounds AWESOME. Unfortunately, no I didn't go to that. Actually, in '94 I wasn't living in Greenville, I was in Nashville, TN. Oh well. I doubt that anything like that's going to happen any time soon. Greenville's film community has gone WAY downhill. That's why I do what I do at the Underground. Somebody's got to, right?

Wow. It's hard to believe that something like that showed up in Greenville. No wonder they never let 'em come back! Bob Jones would have a fit!

Also, the restaurant that you're talking about isn't there anymore. There's a restaurant there now called Wings Down Under that's only been open for a few months. Still some damn good wings though.
