Okay, so who here at Chud is going? I tried, but it sold out rather quickly. Come to think of it Coundingdown.com posted this a while back, but I just recently found out about it (weeks too late I'm positively sure).

Here goes:

Tickets for AN EVENING WITH STEVEN SPIELBERG, on sale now at the Alice Tully Hall box office, are $60 & $100. For information, please call the box office at 212/875-5050.

The Film Society of Lincoln Center is proud to present a very special event, AN EVENING WITH STEVEN SPIELBERG, on Monday, November 25, 2002, at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center. In conversation with Richard Peña, program director of the Film Society, Mr. Spielberg will talk about his films and his views on cinema today, respond to a reel of highlights from his career, and present a preview excerpt (roughly 20 minutes) from his newest film, Catch Me if You Can.

Based on a true story, Catch Me If You Can, to be released by DreamWorks SKG on December 25, 2002, stars Oscar® nominee Leonardo DiCaprio and two-time Academy Award® winner Tom Hanks as a consummate con man and an FBI Agent engaged in a game of cat-and-mouse. The film also stars Oscar® winner Christopher Walken, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Martin Sheen, Nathalie Baye, Amy Adams, James Brolin, Brian Howe, Frank John Hughes, and Jennifer Garner. It is produced by Steven Spielberg and Walter F. Parkes from a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson, based on the autobiographical book by Frank W. Abagnale with Stan Redding.

Mr. Spielberg is one of the world's most respected and successful filmmakers, having directed, produced, or executive-produced eight of the top thirty all-time highest-grossing films worldwide. He is a three-time Academy Award® winner for his work as a director and producer on Schindler's List and as a director on Saving Private Ryan, the top-grossing film of 1998. His films have also included such blockbusters as Jurassic Park and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. He is the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Film Institute and the prestigious Irving G. Thalberg Award from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Mr. Spielberg is a principal partner of DreamWorks SKG, which he co-founded with Jeffrey Katzenberg and David Geffen in October 1994. The studio has enjoyed critical and commercial success, most notably receiving three consecutive Academy Awards for Best Picture for American Beauty, Gladiator and A Beautiful Mind. DreamWorks also received the first Best Animated Feature Film Oscar® for Shrek, one of the highest grossing films of 2001.

Born on December 18, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio, Mr. Spielberg was raised in the suburbs of Haddonfield, New Jersey, and Scottsdale, Arizona. He started making films in his teens, later studying film at California State University, Long Beach. In 1969, his 22-minute short "Amblin" was shown at the Atlanta Film Festival, which led to his becoming the youngest director ever signed to a long-term deal with a major Hollywood studio. The rest, as they say, is history.
So if you got tickets, let us know how those 20 preview minutes of Catch Me and the retrospective were. Please?

I wish I could have gone. I'd give most things these days to see this.

A girl on my floor is going for free. And she's in the FRONT row.

I, too, have known about this for weeks but haven't had the money--too much spent, too fast, too soon. Needless to say I've been kicking myself because of it.

Anyway, there is still hope, as I know someone who has an In at lincoln center.
