Are UK Chewers A Different Breed?

I only joined a couple of weeks ago and maybe it's just me but I am truly bemused at some of the films that keep getting touted as being classics on these forums. I just looking for some emotional support before my paranoia goes into freefall about the lack of taste being exhibited elsewhere.

What's with the praise for Equilibrium, T2, Predator (not a bad film just not a classic), Lethal Weapon etc? I am lost.

I'm a fan of all four movies mentioned (and I do believe Predator is a classic - within it's own genre) so I don't think it's a UK/US thing at all.

Hey! I'm only semi-pasty!

Like Dan says, I don't think it has anything much to do with the UK/US divide, but just differing opinions. I'm of the opinion that Equilibrium was fun, but not great, T2 is an enjoyable film but not a lot compared to its big brother, which is still one of the best movies of the 80s, and Predator and Lethal Weapon are classics, with the latter one of the best movies to come out of the 1980s action genre.
