CHUD London

Let's do this. How far out would you guys need to plan?
Four years.
Four minutes.
I'm pretty flexible, so probably a couple of weeks.
Seriously though, yeah a couple of weeks. Although I'm out of holiday time, and have very little money as usual.
A couple of weeks sounds good to me. My calendar tends to fill up much earlier than that.

Ah, the eternal debate raises itself again - what the hell should we see?

I'd put my vote in for Once Upon A Time In Mexico.
Check.

I'd see that. Or Underworld. Or Spirited Away. Or Ned Kelly.

I'm also curious to see Gigli, but I feel that will have to be a personal pilgrimage undertaken by the Faithful Acolyte in her quest to see the World's Worst Movie.
If you come back t'North, I'll see Gigli with you.
I refuse to see any film starring Heath Ledger and Orlando Bloom in the same frame in the company of possibly swoony lay-dees.. Exactly how imperfect do you want us boys to feel dammit ?

(Granted you did valiantly sit through two hours of Jennifer C. in Hulk but she aint a patch on our Alice.)

I'm planning on coming over in November, if you can wait that long.
Or we can always have another then, Jen's local, Alice is kinda local...

Full marks for the silver-tongued cavalier!
Fett, do you really want to see Gigli?

I have a feeling we'll have to be quick, mind...
Yes, we must be swift.

But sure. Why not.

Well you shouldnt have any trouble getting a ticket.

Still, id be interested to know if its as bad as has been said.
September is difficult as Mrs. AgentOrange is due to deliver a tiny bundle of joy any day soon.

November would be super.
If it's going to be anywhere Dahn Sarf, I'll have to make it November as September is bastard busy. The threat of a Dave Davis front sweeping in from the west is troublesome, but I'll just have to wear my galoshes.

We'll definitely do one in November but I'd like to meet some of you before then. Well, I think I would. ;p

So, I can make it if it's in London or Birmingham. Which is better for most of you and what weekend would be best? The last weekend in September I'm not entirely sure where I'll be, so that's maybe not the greatest for me. Other than that it's all good.

I'm easy, but I prefer London. Because of the easiness. Because London's an easy town, if slightly too lenient toward random seagull attacks.
I can probably make London, simply by pretending I have an important work appointment - possibly with some tinpot film company like Metrodome - but that would probably have to be during the week, rather than a weekend.
I can only make London for the same reason, and if I go as a delegation with Dan. Otherwise, weekends I could go, but it'd be tough.

Or you could all come to Macclesfield...
Hey...hmmmm, you are right.

Swell. Sort it, Hannibal ! (Smith, not the fella with the elephants or collection of faces)

Tits. It'll have to be not between the 18th - 29th Sept. Pesky workers wanting holidays. Selfishness, pure selfishness.

First week of Oct ?

Thread Starter
I'm not so easy. That first weekend of October is part of the "don't know where I'll be" phase. Weekdays on which I don't have uni are good. Right now I have classes Monday and Wednesday and some Fridays. As of early October I'll only have classes Tuesday and Thursday.

Hang on while I whip out my diary...

6,7 Sept (this weekend) are good.

13,14 Sept there's nothing big planned.

20,21 Sept are free but I need to know well in advance so as not to have planned last minute work for final projects due the following week.

11,12 Oct is the next weekend I expect to be in town.

So that's when I'm available... unless, of course, some of you have "work" meetings in London on a Tuesday or Thursday in the next few weeks.
Trust the girl to be difficult...but full marks for online diary perusal.

Eh, aside from the 18th-29th debacle and this saturday (where I have a previous engagement oggling scantily clad teenegers at a coughlimpbizkitgigcough), peachy-keen fo' wheneva, yo.
Any chance of CHUD Macclesfield? I'm so low on funds and holiday time.

Thats doable, although i might need more notice time as i would probably have to spring for a B&B.
I didn't think this was worthy of starting up a new thread, but since a lot of you brits are here all in one place, pardon the interruption, but:

What exactly do you call England? I mean, it's referred to as the United Kingdom or Britain sometimes...so, I'm at a loss as to what to refer to your lovely isle(s) in my next review.
Home.

Seriously, I always say the UK, or England if I'm being more specific.
Well, I'm definitely in Manchester on Tuesday the 30th of September, as I have a do to attend.

My schedule is still a little up in the air - I have to fit in a trip to Scotland and I want to see the Orkney Isles for my own sake.

Are you going to be there for the weekend?

The UK (or Britain) is made up of four seperate nations - England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. England is the big bit in the middle, Scotland is up at the top, Wales is the bulging bit on the western coast. Northern Ireland is the bit at the top of Ireland, and even though it's attached to the rest of the island (actual name: Eire), England insists it's still part of Britain and should be ruled from London. Hence years of bloody violence.

The Scots are more clever - they just hold film festivals and Hogmanany parties, and bleed us dry when we're drunk.

No problemo.

thanks Fett and Whitehead for your replies. That certainly clears that up for me.

Is this ever going to happen? Okay, let's try this: chewers who are actually in or near London sound off.

If this doesn't work I'm going to just post a date and a pub and see if anybody shows. ;p
post #36 of 79
You better make yourself available when I come to visit, Jennifer.

Most definitely.
J, could be just you and me.

scared ?
Wow, how creepy do I sound?

Damn worktime drinking, damn it all to hell.

Pretty sure I've met creepier. And worktime drinking is good. Gets you through the day.
I'm good for this weekend, if that's any help, and I'm near London.

Brilliant. Is Saturday or Sunday better for you?
At the moment, either one works for me.
Sorry, strike that, I forgot - Saturday night I'm in London for someone's birthday party. So I could do the day, or anytime on Sunday.

Whichever. I'm not going to be online a whole lot this week but you can (if you want) just ring or text me whenever you decide. 07944967142 Same goes for anybody else in this thread.

And no, I'm not worried about putting my number online. There's not much anyone could do with it.
Well, if you don't mind boys 'n' stuff...

I don't mind boys and they don't usually mind me. Unless, of course, I get out the whips and chains... ;p
post #48 of 79
The joys of London fellas, the joys of London. If Alice brings the hamster, that's like a rogue's gallery right there.
Man, If I could afford it I would so be there - even though none of you know me. But what the hell, maybe you could organise another meet for next March, I'll be in London then to see Brian Wilson.
Hell, me and Alice have had but one brief drunken liason, that's all the fun of the freak-show. March wouldn't be out of la questione...
