I want to know the future.

You good fellows over in England can help me in this endeavor.

As I was watching my traditional two hour march of morons last night (the one-two punch of Fear Factor and Dog Eat Dog), I came upon the realization that all the popular primetime gameshows of late have been ripped off from the BBC. So I ask of you, what is the hot gameshow property over there right now. I want to be the first to know what the lazy American TV executives are going to rip off next!

And please don't tell me it's the one where they make people sit in human poop while eating rotting sheep balls and slamming human urine shots. All for five bucks!

Nothing much to be honest TB - at this moment it's 'Big Brother Season' so BBC along with all the other independants have put their feet up.

How's 'Popstars' (complete with that tosser Simon Cowell) taking off in the USA?

Hmm, "Popstars" is on the WB, which keeps awkward hours in these parts, so I've not seen it. I think it's in it's second season. The "winners" of last season had approximately .7231 minutes of fame before dropping off the face of the Earth.

The big ticket these days seems to be "American Idol." A show similar to "Popstars," many aspiring talents compete in hopes of getting a record deal. I've seen one episode and it's fantastic. The judges (Paula Abdul and two guys I don't know) are BRUTAL. There is one English guy who I am convinced is Satan incarnate. He makes everyone cry. It's great.

Sorry - American Idol = Popstars (I forgot they changed the name)

The English guy is Simon Cowell.

Yeah, that guy is a total cock. What's his story? Was he originally one of the many shunned because of sub-par talent who then went on a mission of vengeance, vowing to destroy the hopes and dreams of aspiring artistes everywhere, or what?

Ah, I think I destroyed the grammar in the above paragraph with my laser vision AND kung-fu grip.

He really is a record producer - Spice Girls and Boy Band kind of stuff - quite successful over here in the UK and across Europe.

He made his name with the Popstars 'Reality TV gone mad' phenomenon over here ridiculing contestants in a similar manner - up until that point he was a relative unknown on the TV.

I guess he kinda thinks he's the male Anne Robinson, although who in their right mind would want to emulate that witch?

Yup - the lack of an 'edit' function sure does screw things up. wink

Surely it's funny watching the wanabees cry when they are made aware of their 'lack of talent'? wink
