Why are anti-war protests bigger than pro-war rallies? - Page 2

What, exactly, is your point? That their opinions don't really count for much? That the people who stay at work and don't go to the protest are presumed to be in favour of what's being protested? What?

Nope. My point was only that they have more time to protest, that's it. If you want to say bullshit to that (and I will stand by that argument for mid-week protests) and say that there are weekend protests also, so be it. Then my argument is they prefer to spend their free time differently from many others. I think no matter what the cause, generally those who disagree are a lot more vocal and have larger appearance totals than those that do agree (i.e. anti-globalization protest. Have you ever seen a group protesting in favor of globalization?). They also make better TV for the networks.

If you really want to make this post interesting, do some research into who pays for these giant anti-war rallies. You may be surprised.

I pay for them. As do thousands of others who donate.

There will ALWAYS be more people at "anti" rallies than "Pro" rallies (pro-life/pro-choice don't count). It's pure logic. But I know most of you already have the capacity to grasp that, otherwise you wouldn't be able to figure out how to turn on a light switch, let alone your computer.

Furthermore, support of the war is still extremely high in the US. The latest CNN/USA Today Gallop poll was at 72%. Any implications by this thread that the anti-war movement is somehow "greater" in numbers or "overwhelming" is ridiculously absurd based on the numbers.

That being said, demonstrations and rallies are great. But those within "the movement", could you please urge your compatriots not to march/rally at military installations (as has happened outside various bases throughout the country). This isn't about the troops, they are simply a tool and don't need that disrespect, which has actually been minimal as most anti-war activists are being respectful of the troops. Do it in cities or other areas, but leave the troops alone.
