RABAT, D.C., Morocco, March 24 (UPI) -- A Moroccan publication accused the government Monday of providing unusual assistance to U.S. troops fighting in Iraq by offering them 2,000 monkeys trained in detonating land mines.

The weekly al-Usbu' al-Siyassi reported that Morocco offered the U.S. forces a large number of monkeys, some from Morocco's Atlas Mountains and others imported, to use them for detonating land mines planted by the Iraqis.

The publication quoted a highly-informed source as saying, "that is not a scientific illusion but a well-known military tactic."

Could be the turn of the tide for the antiwar movement. The American public can deal with a few civillian casualties, but if CNN starts showing footage of cute little monkeys being loaded into bodybags...

Especially if they were bomb detonating monkeys with baby seals tied to their backs.

This is surreal.

You're damn right it is.

It is kind of creepy that Morocco has 2000 spare bomb detonating monkeys. Even if they gave us a full half of their bomb detonating monkey supply that means at a minimum Morocco has a stash of 4000 bomb detonating monkeys.

That's a tough job to get good at.

You remember OPERATION DUMBO DROP? My fear is that in twenty years we'll see:

OPERATION YES, WE HAVE NO BANANA.

You know you're good when your little monkey body is flying through the air in a few hundred pieces.

i tell you, there is a market for everything. I wonder what type of monkeys they are using.

This is disturbing me the more I think about it. It seems incredibly cruel. How does one train a bomb finding monkey? Do they just have them run apeshit (pun intended) over the countryside until they explode, or do they actually train them to find mines and jump up and down on them? Do they have dud mines that if the monkeys find them they get a banana?

This sounds really sick and twisted, and PETA would be right to get their pants in a bunch over this.

Okay, the first thing that came on my mind when I saw the topic title was The Simpsons.

I expected someone to beat me to it, but not in the first reply...

I think the time of giant robots is swiftly approaching.

I seriously, seriously doubt the US will take them up on this offer, no matter how evil you think Bush is.

Second, which Simpson's episode is that from? Could it be that I missed one? Though I had seen all of them not from the past 2 or 3 seasons.
