Mural found by Marines in Iraq.

What are we supposed to think about this image?

They like golf? Horses? Cigars?

Trying not to jump to conclusions, but how is one supposed to interpret this mural if not as pro-9/11?

Doesn't mean Iraq was involved, if that's the conclusion you warn against. It just means someone in the country thought the whole thing was pretty spiffy.

Using my newly discovered psychic powers I will channel the infamous Devin and reply to the last few posts in his name. Ok, here we go...ah hmmmmmmmmmm.....and I say:

"You could find a mural like this in Afghanistan, Korea or Kuwait. Hell, you could probably find it here in the good ol' US of A! This just another use of yellow journalism to provide support for the unjust killing of civlians in the name of the selected, not elected president Bush."

Ah hmmmmmmmmmm...ok, back to normal now. My head hurts. Weird, I now have this intriguing desire to walk outside and give all my money away while carrying a sign that says 'No Blood For Oil!' I've got to stop this channeling thing.

Also consider dropping the "humor" thing.

I'm sure it's just a poor rendering of the horror of an American cruise missle (complete with wings and cockpit) blasting into the middle of an Iraqi civilian center.

The horror! The horror!

Maybe that the artist had an incredibly poor sense of scale...
*chuckles* Good one.
Uhh....
I side with the scale arguement...

other than that, I can't descern any meaning from this picture... I'm drawing a blank.

So since you're a gullible paranoid war supporter, you had to say that instead. Gotcha.

Having travelled in the middle east and asia post sept 11, i have seen examples of this, esp once afganhistan was bombed/invaded. To me it just means people hate Americans. Doesnt mean you should bomb them or that they have commited some horrendous crime etc or that they are terrorists

It's just a shitty painting. I don't even see the point of this thread.

Yes because clearly you can only support the War OR Saddam Hussein.

Is it nice to see the world in monochrome?
The point is Jamie, there is more than one way to skin a cat - war was not the only option
post #16 of 27
If it were possible to enable the Iraqis to overthrow Saddam and liberate themselves, through clandestine missions to provide arms and training, this would be as close to an ideal solution as I can imagine.

But there was no discussion of any options. The US and UK forced their preferred options on the world, hence the distrust of their motives.
Do you have a link for that story?
Someone was playing with Photoshop or some similar program.

This is exactly what everyone complains about the US doing. Seems like every time Bin Ladin comes up, it's pointed out that we trained him.

Maybe the US should try to pick better freedom fighters.

all the good ones are fighting on the other side.
But how do you know who's a good freedome fighter? Did they know Bin Ladin was nuts? If you're so against arming these guys, then arm no one. Let them sort out their own country.
"Freedome" fighter? What am I, English?

I think hardcore religious fanatics make bad allies when you're a fairly secular imperialist nation.
Thanks for posting the link, Devin. I seriously thought it was a hoax.
No argument there. Still, with a lot of these guys, you never know for sure who you're putting into power, and maybe you're just putting in a new Saddam.
