Mandela Calls Bush a Total Asshole - Page 2

If he still wanted to drag the world in an orgy of unnecessary destruction and blood-letting with unknown consequences, then yes, they would say the same.

9/11 has nothing to do with Iraq.

And I think no sane person can claim that Saddam is not a tyrant or that he's not knee-deep in the blood of Iraqi civilians.

But two rights don't make a wrong. Just because he has spilled the blood of his people doesn't make it right for the US to do the same.

The next person to talk about 9/11 when discussing Iraq will be forced to name the members of the Iraqi govt who have been proved to be part of the attack.

Which means absolutley nothing...cant you find better things to say about the man than that? Is that really a good reason that Bush is in any way a better man than Mandela?
You read a lot more into my posts than is there.

Tacit means "Implied by or inferred from actions or statements", or in other words by not disapproving of the project by inference he approves of the project.

Sometimes, when people want to erect a 110 meter statue of your physical body, you just have to say, "fellas, I'm not sure this is a very good idea."
I know what tacit approval means, I just think its stupid to bring up something like this to discredit a man. Find something of more substance or you could always accuse him of Anti-Semitism like Delude.

So Jacob can make facile comments that have no connection to the discussion, but I can't.

Lighten up.

There are much worse things that can be said about Mandela than the statue thing, but that's not really the point of this thread. I don't need to break him down personally to break down his argument.

I mean look at the picture with the "scale Mandela." It's funny! I'm sure Hussein is jealous. All he gets are those lousy paintings.

Interesting metaphor, given that for every head Jason chopped off the Hydra, two more grew in its place.

And I mean the Jason of Greek myth, not Voorhees.

Nice.

Either way, I'm impressed that this thread (with its incredibly sensationalised title and everything) hasn't turned into a Mandela-bashing festival, or even better a speculation as to whether the US should target Mandela/South Africa as an enemy ...as discussed last night by my <spin> all-time favorite journalist and mentor and guru and role model, Bill O'Reilly. </spin>

I have the utmost respect for Mandela (and since I'm black, my opinion counts more than most of you guys ), but I think he should have practiced a bit more tact in his statement.

I agree with everything he said exccept for the racism against Koffi Anan (sp). I think that's a bit far out.

Still, he's a man of peace, and a tactful, better thought out and more profound statement would have made so much more of an impact than what he said.

I'm sorry, I do have to agree that the statue picture of Mandela is hysterical.
