1,500 Turkish special forces moving into Northern Iraq

Fuck well now we know why Turkey wouldn't let our ground forces in. We would have stopped them from advancing into Northern Iraq. I have it on good source that Turkey wants to grab the town of Kirkuk as well(which is one of Iraq's richest oil fields.). These special forces will do heavy damage to the Kurds. It'll be interesting to see how things take shape up north. Hopefully all these reports and rumors are wrong.

hopefully we have some U.S. forces there. Turks would be up shit creek it they fired on us esp since they are in NATO with us. Just another problem to deal with. They better not get any economic help now.

Well actually Turkey has been conducting certain operations in Northern Iraq for some time. It makes sense they would do this now. This is the reason why we weren't allowed to have ground troops there though.

Update: Rumor now is our 101st Airborne will be moved into position if Turkey invades. This is isn't 91 and we won't be sitting back watching anything happen to the Kurds this time. At least thats what it looks like now.

Not surprising. The Kurds are even more afraid of Turkey than Saddam.

I wonder what military mind in Turkey thought up this brilliant manuever!

And the Turkish government is now flatly denying they sent troops into the area.

Say what you will about Turkey but they didn't cowardly fly helicopters over the Kurds and drop chemicals on them. I don't agree with that statement. No Turkish raid has done the damage Saddam has to them. Still they are a serious problem for the Kurds and likewise for the Turks. When you have Kurds killing children in Turkey that tends to make things more difficult.

No they just kill them with ordinary weapons.

God damn Turks up to no good again, wow, big surprise here.

The Turkish establishment has been burning villages in Turkish Kurdistan for decades.

It's just that Turkey is a US ally and not an enemy like Saddam. Therefore, Iraqi Kurds are freedom fighters and Turkish Kurds terrorists.

However, it's not greed that drives the Turks into Northern Iraq but fear. If an independent Kurdistan is established there, there will be talk of secession from the Turkish Kurds.

Establishment of Kurdistan in Northern Iraq is going to be the start of huge amounts of killing in Turkey as the Kurds start getting uppity.

It seems to me that the Kurds have a lot in common with the Palestinians - except for the support of the US.

Exactly Dev. Its that kind of situation only I would agree Turkey has brutalized the Kurds. The Kurds aren't all innocent either though they have crossed the border and commited vicious acts of terrorism in Turkey as well.
