I saw this story earlier today but I didn't hear anything about it on any of the US press conferences, or in Rummy's interview on CNN. I wonder if it's really a WEAPONS plant.

No, it's obviously a baby milk factory.

wakka wakka

There are many chemicals that are components of chemical weapons that also have other uses.

Why has this not been reported in the US media?

I heard it on tv just fifteen minutes ago...

Why did they wait so long? I literally read that JPost piece about 7 hours ago.

Reuters is reporting that Fox News is reporting it, which might not do it for you, but my Sierra Nevada Pale Ale-toned gut tells me that this story is going to have legs. And if I'm wrong, I can always blame it on the booze.

Honestly, it won't surprise me if it turns out to be legit or just wishful thinking from the ubiquitous "unnamed sources" at the Pentagon. I don't think anyone *really* thought Iraq was 100% chem free, but discovery of these weapons will be a nice PR coup for the Bush Administration.

It was a foreign news agency that reported it first. Although I would suspect that since it's an Israeli news agency that the story doesn't receive any creedence here.

A cement factory?

So wouldn't that be Weapons of Mass Construction?

eek!

This story has evaporated, it seems.

Actually, CNN made some mention of it on the radio on my way in to work today. It's never really been front and center, but it hasn't gone away yet.

What did they say? Anything I can find about chem weapons only talks about this "red line" around Baghdad...

They just mentioned (maybe an 8 second blurb) that they were still researching the chemical factory to see if it could have been used for making chemical weapons. It was jammed in between their many other snippets, something to say for the sake of saying it more than anything else.
