Are any "senior Bush aides" concerned about this, or are they just occupied with France?

Report: U.S. Planners Underestimated Iraqi Shi'ites

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. officials plotting the future of Iraq (news - web sites) underestimated the organizational strength of the Shi'ite majority and are not prepared to prevent the rise of an anti-American, Islamic fundamentalist government, The Washington Post reported on Wednesday.

I'm quite sure that the Bush Administration doesn't give a crap about the editorial opinion of The Washington Post, which is pretty much what this report is.

Still, the situation of the Shi'ites in Iraq is certainly sensitive given they are emerging from years of opression and persecution, they are very devout, and they also make up the majority of the Iraqi population. But this shouldn't surprise ANYONE, much less the Admin.

Then again, nothing surprises me these days.

No doubt, this part could bet ugly. I always find it odd that it takes more man power to "police" a nation, than it does to "liberate" it. That's why we are sending MORE ground troops.

There is a huge potential for this to end badly.
