Over 90 different Al-Qaeda terrorist cells working before 9/11. In 2003 we have another attack. Hmm wow who'd a thunk it?

Well, I'm sure that's of great comfort to the families of the victims.

Actually in a roundabout way I am agreeing with you. However I also am implying this isn't surprising and is inevitable at this point.

Someone's doing something right.

Yes, terror attacks have dropped. However, for an organization we all but publicly pronounced as dead and broken to do THIS, something is still wrong.

VERY wrong.

I don't know who might have pronounced them dead, but I've been truly expecting this to occur right here in the States all this time!

**wonders to oneself how so many people have so many contacts in the DOD and CIA that they know there's no "proof" of Al-Qaeda links**

If they exist, why haven't they been revealed? They seem eager to put these weak, stringy "Some AL-Qaida fellow traveled through Iraq in 1997 and left a letter of thanks to Hussein for the hospitality" over in the media only to watch not a single one catch.

I mean, they publicize every possible biolab find. Every possible weapon indicator. Every apprehension of an Iraqi criminal. Why would this not be plastered all over the media if it existed?

Why would intelligence officials and diplomats worldwide RESIGN because they haven't seen any such thing?

Personally, just me, I cannot say FOR CERTAIN that there is no ties, no proof, and no links.

I do not see how anybody else can without sounding -or appearing- like a blowhard.

I'm convinced the Weapons of Really Bad Nastiness were moved out -not destroyed- of Iraq. I don't know and would never say otherwise.

I don't know that no ties exist, I don't know that ties ever existed.

If no ties ever surface then we'll know. I'm not going to ever ask anyone here to prove it one way or another because there's one thing I can say pretty much for certain: No DOD, CIA, DIA, DOS or Naval Intelligence personel will ever post here in answer to said inquiry.

And besides, the pundits will discredit anyone who tries to prove ties anyway...unless the info comes from WGBH/Frontline. For some reason they get listened to rather often even if they show the same info that say WorldNetDaily does but is discredited as being a right-wing rag.

Strange that...

I never thought Al-Qaeda was dead never. The Bali bombing confirmed they would continue. I did suspect because we grabbed a few top Al-Qaeda Lt's and a mastermind (Shiek Mohammed) that we might be able to take out some cells ala brake them up abit.

As I said above there are estimates of 90 different terrorist cells (30 in indonesia alone) out there. As Bush said this will be a long campaign to snuff these shitbirds out. Difference in the future is how big will these attacks get? What will they use next and if its anything chemical/biological or nuclear well that would be very very bad .

Yes I did see some both on the left and the right say they thought Al-Qaeda was breaking. Monsoor Ijaz being formost a few months back saying we were closing in on them and Bin Laden. However I have never heard anyone saying we could get to these cells with any kind of consistancy and stop them before they attack. How is that possible if they have been planning even before 9/11?

So unlike a previous discussion where nobody (except me) saw anyone saying certain civilian deaths would be close to half a million I saw some who thought Al-Qaeda was breaking. Thats spot on.

When this administration uses a tape of Osama condemning Saddam as an infidel as proof that they are working together, you have to wonder about the evidence. When they use the presence of a terrorist group on the border of Iran, well inside Kurdish controlled territory, as proof that Saddam is tied to Al-Qaeda, you have to wonder about the evidence.
Damn right!

Not sure about this "we have to prove there is no evidence thing" either. I always thought that you had to prove guilt not prove innocence. Unless we are having a bit of a Stalinist reassessment of that principle.

Not entirely true.

There's one FORMER (read: nope, not anymore, not since 1997) Army Intelligence guy here that can tell you, with 100% certainty, that AT ONE TIME, there were not only WMD, but active research, testing and recruiting going on in a certain VERY sandy and hot place.

What has happened since that time, I can't even begin to speak to. However, I would venture to guess that there was not all of a sudden a case of "collective Jiminy Cricket ", and they stopped all the bad stuff.
