Dimes=Done

Hate to make Nick's forum description somewhat obsolete, but, in completely sucky news, my band, Dimes, is calling it quits after only just over a year of playing out. We're finishing up our scheduled shows, and that's it.

Just as we were making some headway into other cities and getting some killer reviews, our guitarist (who was extremely instrumental in our overall sound and in the writing) announced he wasn't having fun playing music anymore. It would be futile to replace him (and our bassist was invited to join another established local band within about two days), so it's all done.

I've gone through musically non-productive stages before and hated them, so I'm assuming I'll be back here promoting some other band soon enough.

Our album's still for sale at cdbaby.com, if anyone's interested in ridding us of some old merchandise.

By the way, thanks to everyone here who bought, listened to, reviewed, or otherwise gave input on our music.

That's a fucking shame. Sorry to hear it, fella.

Damn, DB/Neil.

That really does suck. I'm still rocking my copy of the CD.

Keep me updated on what you're doing next.

Aaarrrggghhhhh. I'm really sorry to hear that. I still keep the disc in regular rotation. Keep us posted on what you do next.

So are you and Micah gonna try to start a new band, or are you both going seperate ways as well?

Hard to say. I'll probably pitch in on some solo demos he's been working on. But I'm not really the hired gun type, so I know I don't want to end up in a situation where I don't do at least some of the writing. Plus, I'm not sure we're exactly on the same page, taste-wise, without the other guys to balance it out.

And, yes, there is Sbertnerne. Chavez and I should really come up with a way to make those discs more available.

Hurt. loss of band is pain. Good luck finding a new one. I hope you'll find one that fits you well. If there's anything worse than being musically inactive as a musician, it's being in "the wrong band."

Keep rockin'.

I got that note on your email the other day;

I always felt bad I didn't make your shows, but let me say to all those that weren't fortunate enough to see Dimes, that those guys rocked the fucking house live - Dave was always telling me about how they were improving, and I was always like "damn, you guys already are really, really good!"

Needless to say, I am saddened for you, because I know how good you thought the band was, and it sucks to have one less good band out there on GP anyway.

Come to the show on the 26th, and you'll see a) I wasn't exaggerating and b) why this breaking up crap REALLY sucks.

Yes. Yes, they will. Let the gears start turning for Sbertnerne 3.0.

Hate to be the self-involved guy who keeps posting on his own thread, but I thought I'd let anyone who's interested know that the cd (soon to be a collector's item) is now on sale for $5 through cdbaby.com . Can't really beat the price.
