Random thread about Sacrament's potential new member

I probably shouldn't let this out this early nor even bother writing it anyway... but we just had our first rehersal with a "new" guy today. I'm psyched and since I have no one to talk to about it, it's going down here. Deal.

So, JP has been a friend and band mate and fellow musician to all of the guys in Sacrament for years. In 8th grade Kirk and he played their first licks together, including Bush songs. Kirk and I (scott) have been in about three bands together with him. Anywho, we go way back. But, there have always been problems before. Mostly due to difference in musical preference. I like metal, Kirk likes metal (now), and JP has always liked more... alternative sorts, I suppose one would say. Management has also been an issue cuz it's largely been the case that Kirk and JP have different ideas of what a band should be and how it should work... and they're both leader types, I would say. So there was a bunch of clash going on. Not that I had nothing to do with it. But, anyway...

Long story short, we played today. JP came in and added a second guitar to our ear-slaughter. He'd worked on a few songs before today to get the parts and whatnot, but even on the newer ones, he just looked at Kirk's fingers and figured out how to play it so Kirk could do something else, or he'd whip out harmonies or different voicings. I was just floored watching this guy go off.

We did a jam on an A minor - C riff I just wrote on bass. Kirk and JP were doing fuckin' harmonized solos like I've only ever heard by 'Tallica and Megadeth. I nearly had to stop playing several times because I was having trouble containing my excitement and ready to cream my pants. If those two can pull off shit like that just while jamming, I'm almost possitive we can take the world down.

We all knew Kirk was damn good, and our drummer ain't half bad at all when he stops to think about what he's doing. But there was always something lacking. We do alright with only one guitar, but it takes a lot of work and it's difficult to add flavour and prevent redundancy in riffs. With JP, however... It sounds like an entire ensemble and it's just waiting to kill the public in the ears.

The only problem is: JP already has a band... It was dying out and now still seems to be only dangling by a thread. So, my hope is, that one won't take off so much but will offer him an outlet for running the show and for playing all the songs that just won't really play well in a metal band. If his other band does go places, I wish him all the luck and blessing in the world just like always. But... if he locks in with Sacrament, there will be no end to the blissful music-making. Fans everywhere will fall down with bloody ears and sexless orgasms, cowering below the sheer clamorous perfection. ...not until we get a fan base of course ...since we don't have much ...yeah. GOOD NIGHT!

Best of luck, fella.

It's a rare and special thing to find someone on the same page as yourself and here's hoping the stars align.

He's right it was fun. It felt like a real heavy metal band. I hope it goes our way.
