officially joined a band. of course, they are in new york, and i am here. however....

i need advice on lyric writing kids.

god, could i be pretentious? i mean, really. in all reality my songs will probably be about fluffy bunnies and hangovers, not about the stirring emotional depths of my soul. ;p

Congrats. Band-om is more fun than most anything I can imagine. Good luck.

What sort of help do you need? Content? Style? Prose? Meter? Ask away.

Generally, there seem to be two "best" ways to write song lyrics and those are wit and self-truth. Speak from your heart or your mind, and the deeper you go in both, the more effectual your words will be and likely, the more cool to more people.

thanks, assbag. (gee, that doesn't sound strange does it?)

really, this kid just read my writing and asked me to join and write songs. its kinda freaky/scarey. i'm a complete song-writin' virgin.

with the exception of such little ditties as:
"walking down the street and looking at all the homeless people"
"i left my wallet at the bar and i'm not sad"
and my personal favorite
"i throw brick at people because i hate them"

Who can tell how many different lines you have if you mumble all the time?

Seriously, just come up with stuff that rhymes. The music is all that counts. No one ever listens to the words. Just look at J. Lo's musical career so far. Tell me that "I'm Real" and "Ain't It Funny" aren't the same song with different words.
