HEY! CHEWERS!! PARTY AT MY PLACE!!!

Now, we all know that HMT and I are in a metal band. What you may not have realized is just how DAMN GOOD WE ARE!!!
Forgive the conceit, but I've just got to share the extreme excellence I just helped cause. Saturday night. The venue is crawling (compared to our normal bar shows). There's music going on, but it's relatively tame and quiet. The Battle of the Bands has begun. The crowd is silently watching and respecting the music and even enjoying it, if not very actively.

...and then there was Sacrament!

Before tonight, I've had a serious problem finding confidence in my musical ability. I get up there and play and sing fairly dynamically, but I'm so afraid of screwing up that the energy and tightness of the band suffer. I want to be the best. But without confidence...

So, we get up on stage and guess what. MY FEAR IS ENTIRELY GONE! I think Sacrament has never performed as powerfully, as tight, and with as much audience interaction as tonight. When we started the beat to our openner, the whole place was alive with heads a-flailing and cheers feeding the music. HMT accidentally pulled the plug from his amp and dropped out, and then he started back in so perfectly it sounded practiced. We were all on and magnificent no matter what shit tried to stop us.
By the closing song, people were bouncing like mad rabbits in mating season and pushing up against the stage. We smacked the last chord and all ran up to give hi-fives and hand shakes to all of our adoring fans. I can't remember the last time I've felt this good. Maybe never before.
This is completely mad. I wouldn't give it up for anything. We definitely got the house vote. Nothing is certain until Monday, but at this point I don't even care about winning. That was intense!!

I love you, Scott.

Heh...there's few things better than the euphoria that sets in after having done a successful set in front of a crowd.

Congrats, guys. Here's to more for you....

I love you, too, Kirk.

Thanks, Mikah.

And there's more! I was ripping up my bass so much that I got a blood blister. That just proves how much I was into it.
And after the show, dropping off equipment at HMT's, there were fireworks going off! Those were so meant for me and the band.
Then (can one day be any better?!) I get home and talk to my girlfriend. We're talking about our respective activities of the day. And she, so randomly and surprisingly... gave me a special handshake. And that's all I'll tell you. But, WOW! So much love!!

I feel I ought to add more.

I had a great time too. Definitely one of our best shows, if not the THE best. JP adds so much to our sound. God, I hope he sticks around. My favorite part of all of this is the fan interaction. Even though most of the ones that really care right now are younger kids, 14-17 years old, I realize that those are really the people that matter. They're not all cynical and "grown up". They just like to have a good time and listent to the music. They get the most out of it. I had a little guy practically beg me to autograph his arm, and Scott and I took a picture with another little ripper. We got high fives and admiration from a bunch of front rowers, and much loud cheering. I think some of them may have even known a song or two. Amazing. here are some choice shots from the night.

A great little guy who was just happy to get the chance to meet us. I mean, we're no Metallica, but when a band takes time out to meet with the fans, it's a great experience anyway, and this little dude loved it.

We didn't. Nuts.
Kind of a let-down, but it was still great.

A band called Stigma won. They were pretty good. Kind of heavy, but mainstream enough to take some more points. We got 41 judge's points and 38 votes, and Stigma got 43 judge's points and 46 votes. It was close.
