God Must Be Amused
During the next two years almost 12,000 Somali Bantus will be immigrating to the United States. Very few of these people can read or write any
language. Most of them have never seen a light switch or a telephone. They come from a desert with temperatures in the hundreds. Scorpions are everyday companions. On their way here many will ride a bus for the first time in their lives. We won't mention the airplane trip. During an interview one man said, "I hear the government lets you keep a cow wherever you want in America. I need a cow, because I need fresh milk."
Not long ago I listened to a preacher tell us what heaven will be like. He described God's throne and the New Jerusalem. He told us all about his heavenly mansion. I think the good pastor was talking about his cow.
In 1 Corinthians 2:9 Paul wrote, "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things
which God hath prepared for them that love him."
Why is it we are often so arrogant to think we know things we really know nothing about? I guess it is part of being a human. We want to be in the know. We want to impress others with our special knowledge. It is like being a child and taunting others by chanting, "I know a secret."
