Not that I believe we are being visited, but you also have to include time dilation & legnth contraction into space travel. According to the theory of special relativity, the closer our velocity gets to the speed of light, the more time slows down. For instance (I got this example off a web page, not my own), Alpha Centauri is four light years away. A ship travelling half the speed of light would take eight earth years to get there, however, according to time on the ship, the trip would take less than seven years. Multiply that exponentially by the length of the trip & any increased speed & it is entirely possible to move accross the galaxy in a lifetime.

Not to mention that modern physicists (including Hawking) believe in wormholes that could result in simultaneous travel from one point in the universe to another.

wow...I don't think I have any words. Yet I feel I should comment. Hmmmmm, here we go, this thread is terrifying. If I dont believe in the christian god, satan, heaven or hell, does that mean I will end up going to hell? I don't know about those aliens...

CTD, it is possible to move across the galaxy in a lifetime (or 0 minutes... if you want to go into inter-dimensional space travel)... but here is the real puzzle: aliens may be able to travel around that fast, but the galaxy is still a damn huge place filled with billions and billions of stars. They may be able to travel wherever they want as fast as they want, but that doesn't mean they can find us. It's like looking for one needle in a needle-stack factory. Just because you can move around the factory in a rocket powered golf cart doesn't mean you can find the needle. The fact that we fire off our TV and radio transmissions into the sky 24hrs a day does help, but not that much.

And indeed aliens may very well be the delusions of drunkards and drugs.

But that brings up another things.

There is a reason why alcoholic drinks are also called spirits and the reason why no one should get high.

The delusions you see when high or tripping out are in fact demons being allowed to play on your mind to a higher degree. And yes that is demons fooling around with your chemical imbalances.

Heh.

Just realized I opened another can of worms. wink

I don't remember anything in the Bible protesting drinking or getting high. In fact, if I remember correctly, the Bible encourages it.

Well those Old Testament folks liked their fair share of liqour.

But everytime it is mentioned (besides water and wine reference) you see adverse accounts of why not to drink. Sometimes the Bible doesn't hit you over the head with these things.
