The gameplay better be improved over Two Towers, but sweet merciful Jesus, those graphics are good.

here'd hoping I can get this hella cheap after its been out for a few months, like last time.

Coop is a given. Pretty much everyone, anywhere, was begging for that option. Glad to see more and more games coming to grips with the fact that a lot of us don't like to hog our games to ourselves...or worse, actually have friends in the first place to play games in co-op mode.

I hope though that there aren't some shit levels like the last two that were on the Two Towers. I can see how they'd want to challenge us gamers who think games have become too easy as of late, but those last two were a pain in the ass to play through.

I hope the game levels are much more intertwined with the actual story. That they don't screw things up by hacking the narrative and robbing the game of the drama featured in the movies/books.

Looks like a great start.

Well, I was one of those tasteless bozos who loved the first game, so all of these much-wanted additions are gravy to me. Can't wait for this one.

And is it just me, or does anyone else love it when you click on CHUD and there are video game pics on the main page? I just really dig that.

The Two Towers GBA game is REALLY good if you like Diablo and LoTR.

I for one thought console wise The Two Towers was the best of them all. Albeit a Final Fight type game isnt hard to do right but I enjoyed it.

Was also when I noticed that the LoTR score is now up there with my all-time fav's. Coolest thing about SW games is most often then not the sound is JUST LIKE the movie. I got that same feeling with TTT.

In thought that for a licensed game, the Two Towers game was pretty stunning, yeah, it was short, but the prodcution values were high and the gameplay was excellent if nothing original. But ROTK does look a lot more impressive. and hey, that's Minas Tirith!

Yep, I really enjoyed the heck out of TTT for PS2; the co-op addition is great, but I hope they can also pack more playing time in than the first one, cause for $45 it was pretty dang short. Replaying the game as Isildur wasn't a great pay-off for completion either..

I found TTT to be extremely boring and linear, unless they have done a complete 180 (Dan's article indicated they didn't) I'll be staying away from this one. Even though I'm a graphics whore.

Isn't it amazing the different reactions we all have to games (and movies and books and art, I know, I know)? I still remember the night I brought TTT home and fired it up--the oohs and ahhs, the "let ME play" "no, let ME play" arguments, and the fact that we all stayed up half the night, just to see what was around the next corner. We were almost giddy.

Yet, I look at Zelda, and when everyone else is creaming themselves, I'm just a big flabby lump of 'meh'.

Tastes are weird and wonderful, and often just plain scary.

I just feel that taking a mythology and story as rich, diverse and epic as Lord of the Rings and turning it into a hack-and-slash fighting game is a terrible waste of potential. It reminds me of the early 90s when US Gold produced a side-scrolling shoot-em-up based on The Godfather. Some things just deserve that little bit more thought.

Well, I can certainly see your point, Dan, and I agree, to an extent. But a game of any depth would really need to be based on the books alone, or would at least have to wait until all the movies are finished in order not to spoil them. I was just happy to have a game based on the movie in my grubby little hands.

It is kinda sad, though, that there has yet to be a definitive rpg based on the books. I was decidedly underwhelmed by last year's LOTR rpg.

Wasn't the problem that they got the licence to make the game a pretty short time in advance? I think I read an interview somewhere that they were doing TTT as an easy to develop but in my opinion still good action game, add a little more depth to the ROTK game, and then save the big stuff for the "TRILOGY" game they are working on, which is supposed to be this massive action/adventure/rpg based on all three of the films? Now, that's the one I'm really interested in.

I actually really enjoyed the Two Towers game....i hadn't played a hack n slash game in a long time so it was fun for me...actually I still haven't finished it I need to get back into it, but the new Return of the King game looks fucking great too.

War of the Ring should be pretty damn good. Liquid made Battle Realms, which is extremely solid.

There is a quick bit about this game in the new EGM. A sound bite from one of the developers mentioned two hidden characters (Merry and Pippin?) and that you'll control your sword with the right analog stick.

I love games that employ that kind of control scheme, which explains why I'm one of the three people in the world who enjoys "Apocalypse."
