This is definitely the most unique title coming out this fall. I got in Nintendo's little preview thing, and I have been posting impressions of it on two different message boards. This will be a big compilation of those impressions, because I thought you chewers might want to read them. You might want to check out the Gameforms Preview and the Gamespot one.

This game is awesome. I really can't describe how cool it is. I had to pry myself away from it. Today the French cat gave me some new carpet. Finally I can replace that steel flooring. I must find some tapes! That way, I can use the tape player I spent my savings on. I also bought a "Hippie Shirt". Heh. I got a shovel as well, but i haven't tried it out. I want some more furniture. Earlier I had to get the sheep's Game Boy back from the duck. This game rocks. I can see myself spending a hour or two on it daily for the next few months. It really is that cool. BUY IT when it comes out.

This is an example of the fairly humorous dialog in the game. This caught me off guard and cracked me up.

Anyway, I thought I'd throw up impressions of the GBA island.

To get to the GBA island (name it what you want, but mine is Koholint , you have to ride with a weird pirate turtle who sings songs that frighten me. One is about cucumbers. Anyway, to get there, you have to connect the Game Boy Advance. Feel free to mess around on here on the Cube. Talk to the villager, leave cherries on the ground, knock down grapefruit, take the free hawaiian clothes out of the house. When you go to leave, you can upload it to the GBA and mess around with the villager, Chao style. If you feed it enough fruit, it throws bags of something on the ground. I don't know what they are, but I will tomorrow when the pirate turtle wakes back up. I'll also have impressions of the GBA clothes designer. Damn shops close too early.

Another thing: The empty house on the island appears to hold furniture and clothes, as well as other stuff. I assume this is for trading islands with someone else while you are on the road with your GBA, as a trade option is present.

More GBA impressions:
The two NES games Nintendo sent me were Golf and Balloon Fight, and the GBA link feature on them is pretty cool. The only problem I have is that if you set a high score on the GBA, there would be no way to save it.

The pattern designer: The GBA is a way to design patterns for free, no more, no less.

I got the shovel and proceeded to plant a cherry orchard and a grapefruit orchard. I also found several gyroids buried various places. They are weird things that bounce around when you turn them on.

I'll give you what I've done the last few days.

I got fossils back in the mail from the Farway museum, but it was the day the raccoon bastard closed his store. I didn't do much that day, other than a few errands and some Balloon Fight. I also played with my new bug net. I must say, the fishing pole and the bug net are the most fun way to make money in this game, much moreso than picking up seashells and picking cherries.

The next day I went to the store with a shitload of fish, bugs, fossils, and clothes from the dump. Selling them all, I found that fossils are worth a whopping 5000 bells each. Screw the museum on that note. The store had a most interesting item on sale today: an asteroid. Yes, an asteroid. It floats in the air and spins. Needless to say, I had to have one. I bought it, and put it near the door into my house. It's by far the best furniture, even better than my toxic waste barrel. I ordered another one a few days later. Dual asteroids. Oh yeah.

Anyway, today. Today was a raffle day at the store, so this means that Tom Nook won't sell anything. He's got prizes, big prizes, that you can get with raffle tickets. You get raffle tickets by buying stuff from him, by the way. So there are three prizes, a giant chess queen, white, a lawn gnome, bearded, and an NES. Guess what two I managed to win, out of my six tries. No NES for me. Oh, sweet irony. Yeah.

Well, if you do rent it, make sure you have the memory card space needed to save the game. Then you can always buy it later and continue with your rented game.

The real test, however, is whether or not you like Harvest Moon. If so, did you like farming or the RPG aspects. This game is the RPG aspects of Harvest Moon blown up into a full game. The comparison to the Sims is only because there is no goal, you just play. It's even less goal-oriented than the Sims, and that says a lot.

I think this is definitely worth a purchase, even if only for the NES games. I mean, you're sure to get into some aspect of it, whether it's designing patterns, finding fossils, running errands, planting fruit trees, or decorating your house.

Rent this in the very least, just make sure you have enough space to save your rented town. I doubt Blockbuster is going to rent out memory cards along with this thing, even if they came with it.

I would like to say that I have a pissing statue named "Maneken Pis". That is all.
