Download it and played it.
It's funny...playing Halo made forget how frenetic and chaotic PC shooters typically are. It was like Halo on speed.
Graphically, it's quite nice. Detail and environments are top-notch.
Sonically...very good. The announcer's melodramatic would probably grate on mke after awhile, but they haven't YET.
Weapons are awesome, but I'm still learning them. But it's a very diverse selection, and being able to snipe with more than one weapon is pretty damn cool.
The gameplay is still quite nice. The sheer amount of dodging and jumping back and forth is consistent with Unreal Tournament, but I guess I've lost the taste for that after the more realistic combat of Halo. Playing online, for example, is a bit tricky because human opponents tend to do all of that jumping more than computer ones and when you're just firing small rounds or energy capsules in their direction, it's tough to aim right. But I remember having this same impediment when the first UT came out, and I adjusted my playing style pretty quickly.
Botton line: The gameplay is very good, but has a learning curve.
Online play: This needs some slight improvement. Not the play itself...but the server browser. While it tells you which servers are up and how many people are on them, it doesn't tell which ones are password-protected - which is like about HALF of them at this point! As a result, you waste a WHOLE lot of time trying to log on to servers you can't get on, and it's frustrating.
Once you actually get on....it's fine. I have a cable modem, and once I found a server with good ping rated, it was quite smooth and playable. Again...the aiming issue was a little tricky because of the pace, but it just takes a wee bit of adjustment.
Overall...I like it a good bit. I believe I'll be getting this as soon as it comes out.
