...and I am, like, totally digging it. The Lithtech engine has never looked or performed better, the character animations and facial expressions are impressive, and there's just plenty of charm to go around.

This is the full official demo, btw, not the "teaser" demo that was released a couple of weeks ago. Fairly big, at over 150 megs, but I got it in about 15 minutes from fileshack. There should be more mirrors soon. Here's a link to the 3dgamers site:

I dlded the other demo that first came out and couldn't even start it up (the Ohio one), i'd love to play this game too.

Hell, my computer had trouble running the FIRST one....

dammit!

as if my free time wasn't compromised enough, now there's this coming out, Hitman 2, and GTA Vice City. plus Battlefield 1942 already eating into my waking hours.

Fileshack's pretty damn good though.

Wow, FileShack's wait times are pretty short compared to FilePlanet's. Thanks for alerting me to them.

Just so's ya know, the demo contains two levels in a Japanese village, and there you'll be fighting the female ninjas. The third level is in H.A.R.M.'s secret submarine base (I loved reading all the business memo's lying around concerning day-to-day functions of the Evil Corporation), and the fourth level is in a snowy Russian wepons storage facility.

Stealth is, of course, key, but you can also run and gun, and there are quite a few gadgets you can find. I never got to use the Angry Kitty (some sort of wind-up toy that had glowing purple eyes), so if anyone finds it lemme know what the heck it does. There's also a Utility Launcher that can use tranq darts, or anti-camera darts, or tracking darts, among other things. Pretty neat stuff.

All in all, quite a fun little demo. Looks like I'll be buying this when it hits the shelves.

Does it have the trailer park level? I played that at Vivendi's presentation in London, and it was superb. Fighting female ninjas in a trailer park, while a tornado tears the scenery apart in real-time around you. Amazing use of sound too.

The trailer park/tornado was the subject of the teaser demo released a week or so ago. In the new one you still fight female ninjas, set in a Japanese village.

The sound and music is really good all around. I especially liked the spooky-sixties-style music of the sub level...

And I wish I could edit.

ah. ninjas.

my money is already spent.

Ah crap. Loved the first one but this one won't run for me due to my Kryo 2 based video card. Les *sigh*
post #11 of 21
Yeah me neither. I've got a Kyro based card as well.

LOVE. I love the retro sets and overhearing the little conversations.

And nailing ninjas to walls is fucking awesome.

Damn you. And Damn Monolith while I'm at it.

Why, God, why am I stuck with a TNT2?

Go take a swim to the bottom of the sub hanger.
And its this robot cat that you pull a button on its ass and place it on the ground. When a enemy comes in front of it, the cat flies right at him blowing up. Brilliance.

I'm ho-hum about it. The cinematics are GREAT(Cate has never looked better), the new engine looks quite a bit better, but the gameplay in the first 2 demo levels was.. really, really tired. I really like this games attitude and humor, and I loved the 1st NOLF, but there hasn't really been anything better so far in the demo.

Oh well, two more levels to go - maybe it will get more intriguing.

Actually, there's one in the Japanese village in the beginning, at least that's where I found it. But it meows in your hand, and I was afraid it would alert the ninjas (!), so I never used it.

I hope this phrase doesn't throw anyone off from giving this game a shot, but like I said before, I found it really charming.

I hope that's not a Death Knell.

i thought it was reasonably fun. the models look fantastic and the mo-capped animation is expertly done. pretty glossy for a Lithtech game.

and i love the voices of the ninjettes. made me kinda sad to slaughter them.

pretty neat gadgets, even if i won't end up using most of them.

love the robot parrot.

i'll buy it.

I finally got a chance to try it. Jacob, thanks for the heads up on Fileshack. Pretty fast.

I'm a bit disappointed about the lack of secondary weapons (w/ the right mouse button). It looks like it's been "dumbed down" in that department. Still, maybe it's only on that level (though I wonder what key would be assigned to a sniper rifle?). I do love the new "search body" feature though. Adds a more realistic feel to it. And hiding the bodies reminded me of "Thief" (though I wish I could see the corpses as I lifted them).

I also love the dialogue littered about just like in the previous game. It's just "different" hearing the "ninjettes" (as Dave called them). I just couldn't bear killing them! It's different with the henchmen from the first game, but these sweet gals were just too much.

I'm definitely getting this one. I agree Jacob. It's charming.
