Got to play this a little today and based on my limited experience the best way I can describe it is Asstacular. But I guess that's no real big surprise.

Asstacular.
Does that mean you... didn't like it?

You could say that.

Is asstacular a good or bad thing?

Who's putting this out? Is this the only Terminator game on the horizon? I'm just asking because I remember seeing some screenshots of a Terminator game, and they didn't look too bad.

I hope it's not the asstacular one...

It looks fine, but then you actually have to play it. The camera is a real problem.

It's Infogrames/Atari. I haven't played this yet (they've been very coy about letting people play it) but all the video footage I've seen just screams "cockfest".

It's a third-person run-around-and-shoot game in which Terminators blow up after being shot a few times. Which surely rather undermines the whole point of calling them "Terminators", no?

I'm not surprised to hear it plays like ass.

Ok everybody, I picked up this game yesterday and my initial impression is mixed due to the camera angles (as well). This game has a very 'Resident Evil' thing going on with the way in which it is designed- but does move much more quickly than that series. The look of the game is fine, as the implementation of the TERMINATOR world is cool (eg, on the first level we run into the flying saucer robots from the T2:3D the ride, which is nice, IMO). But when the camera angle moves constantly, I am slightly turned around for a second and do not like that. There is a button in which can be pushed for a 'first person' perspective to fire from and if the whole game were like that, I'd call this a 'must buy' for fans of the TERMINATOR series. However, there is a cheat code to allow for a first person perspective, but am afraid the only way to access that is by completing the game as it is by winning awards or pts. We'll see if anything is leaked. One other annoying aspect is the saving ability: you have to complete a level to save from. Personally, I've never liked games that dictate to me when I can save them, but that's just me. Bottom line, if you are a hardcore fan of the TERMINATOR series you will probably want this one, or at least rent it somewhere. I personally traded in a couple of my old games and got this one in their place from E.B., so I'm just fine with the game so far.

Also, the reason you can shoot down the the terminator machines (and I am only on level one), you are using 'modern guns' with laser abilites, so there you go.

Yeah, I figured you'd be using sci-fi weaponry to make the Terminators beatable, I just think that doing that reduces the impact of them. The whole point of the movies is how hard they are to destroy. If you make 'em fall apart with a few laser blasts, it reduces them to expendable cannon fodder - and automatically not as cool.

The television ad for this game made me smile. Cheesy but fun.

The normal, more primitive endoskeletons are rather easy to kill with your weaponry. The shiny chrome endos we all know and love are a bit more difficult to kill.

I like this game for xbox. But I agree.. the one thing that would make this game tops in my book is if the extremely shoddy controls were fixed. The problem is with the resident-evilish views. The controls change immediately once you reach a new view, and its quite disgustingly bad.

This game had so much more potential.. sigh.. hopefully for the next Terminator game you'll be able to choose which side you want to be on. Resistance.. or Skynet. That would be fun.
