GunGrave .... any good ??

Looks like this one has hit the shelves. Anyone out there picked it up yet...what's the verdict ?

Most reviews say the action is kicking and it looks great but that it can be beat in like 2 hours...much like the over-hyped - The Bouncer. Though...IGN gave it an 8.0.

What's the real deal word ?

Haven't played it, but I've read that it was just fun, but mindless and repetitve, shoot em up. And supposedly it supports another bad camera, if that sort of thing bothers you(I never really notice bad cameras).

Got a chance to go by EB today and give this one a test run. The gameplay is quite fun...especially if you really liked Devil May Cry which it most easily compares to. Although I still can't really comment on the longevity of the title.

The action is fast and frenetic and you can do Max Payne style diving while shooting. The cutscenes are FANTASTIC and combine CG with Anime styled cell shading. Very unique and cool look. I think I could dig this one...may pick it by the end of the week.

My friend had a copy of it. He finished the game within two days. He said he could have done it in half a day but it was a working week.
He also commented that there's not much replayability in the game. Something that he would go thru once and leave it. He did say it is pretty cool looking and nice action but then again he did buy it cos he wanted something brainless and full of blasting bad guy action.

To me the biggest problem I would have with the game is the length of the game, which is very short. If you rent it you'd probably finish the game within one sitting.

Ok....I couldn't resist anymore...and went ahead to EB and traded in two games and picked up Gungrave today....and I must say...I'm quite glad I did.

Game Length: Yes it's 6 levels long. I played for approx. 2 hours today and made it to level 4. I expect to be able to beat the next two levels in an hour...but the game is so intense and bristling with action...I know I'll be ready to go through again with the difficulty bumped up a notch....you won't want to put it down. (...if you're an action fan..)

The graphics rock...the action is non stop...and yeah you can just mash the fire button and make it through...but to do it with style (which is rewarded with extras at the end of the game) requires some skill. It's a very, very stylish action shooter. Sorta like an even more stylish Devil May Cry minus any of the puzzles and item hunting. If those elements were taken away from DMC it would probably be about 3 hours too.

Bottom line...if you're into the anime scene: Trigun and Cowboy Bebop...you will want to at least rent this game...but most likely you will want to own it after seeing the first minute of the opening cinematic !! The art and graphic style of the game was done by the creator of Trigun and the music is done by the same crew that does the music for Cowboy Bebop..so it's got that cool swinging jazzy music. Very COOL.
