Zelda: A Link to the Past for GBA

I know this is an old game and probably doesn't require a thread but I am having so much fun playing through this game again. It has been so long since I've played it that I am remembering things as I go along as apposed to just knowing everything from begining to end before even turning it on.

I happily snagged it for $19 last week at Target, and I'm looking forward to digging into it soon. I was SNES-less, so I've never played the game!

Mmmm...Zelda...

Thanks for reminding me! Most get this an X-mas gift for.....me!

You are in for a treat then. $19 bucks couldn't be better spent. Unless you happen to need a kidney or lung and they were offered up real cheap like.

I've been digging this game. Weird though is that it all seems vaguely familiar. As if I played it before...but not.

Wandering around collecting rupees so I can upgrade the shit out of my bomb/arrow capacity.

Finally found a decent angle on my bed to play this without frustration...because it seems the Halo Light upgrade isn't available till January now.

I'll finally get to discover this game once I get GBA. I never had it for SNES, and I don't know why. But it's a classic and I can't wait.

I envy any of you guys playing this for the first time. One of the best games around by far.
Yes it is one of the best games.

I have it on SNES. But I borrowed it from friend and he never asked for it back. Its been like 4 years. I played it while I had a N64. My grandfather, who bought an SNES after playing with the NES while visting my house in 1991, visited and helped me at some parts. It had beaten it 4 times. Anyway, I beat it and I am convinced it is a masterpiece.

I ordered this for myself, but will get it as a gift from my parents. I can't wait. This really makes me want to get an AB kit. Oh well.

Phenomenal game, more addictive than cocaine-laced Cheetos.

Are you implying there are Cheetos not laced with cocaine?

I don't believe he is. Because we all know that Cheetos are laced with 100% Colombian.

still enjoying this. I've just arrived or been teleported to the Dark World. I was wondering why there was a lack of goals (people to save) in the Light World...now it's all making sense.

Saved my first princess/maiden. I'm off to the swamp lands, but will probably be doing some exploring now that I got a funky hammer.

I do wish though that I could just hook this up to my tv and play without the hassle of a small screen...but I still like it.

Zelda is overrated.

OW! Dammit...

I just figured I better pop in with my de riguer "Zelda is overrated" comment, or else jeapordize my position as the video games forum crusty old-timer.
mheh, old timers are funny.

I was talking with a friend the other day and he was mentioning a game called Dark Cloud or something along those lines that was a Zelda-killer. (hopefully I remembered the title right)...

Has anyone heard of this game, played it, and can confirm it's all he has claimed it to be?
Dark Cloud better than Zelda? Hell no.

It was released in 2001 for the PS2.

yeah, I just wandered over to ign to see the reviews.

My friend is on crack.

I put a large chunk of time into this last week when I was at my grammaw's place for a few days. 2 pendants recovered. Great fun so far.

Anyone in Atlanta have experience with Afterburner installation?

i'm considering buying a gamecube for zelda. i love zelda. saying it's overrated is like saying the beatles are overrated. the first zelda created a whole new genre of adventure games. zelda for the snes perfected it. n64's ocarina of time again changed the adventure genre. a combo of fun puzzles and good action.
Zelda IS gaming.

Boomstick:

BUT TEH CARTOON LINK IS TEH GAY! GAYCUBE IS FOR TEH KIDDIES!

j/k, I see that on a daily basis over at ign's board. Personally, I'm tingling in my bathing suit area for it. Cel-shading is going to work perfectly for Zelda. All the haters saying that Link shouldn't look that way obviously started playing at Ocarina of Time, because the series was always cartoon-looking.

the cel shading doesn't bother me in the slightest. in fact, i seem to be one of the few that actually likes cel shading. maybe because i love animation, i don't know. the cel shaded games i've played, i've enjoyed. especially jet set radio future.

anyway, back to a link to the past. one of the best games made, ever.
The cell shading looks fabulous. It's like a living, breathing cartoon.

I can't for the life of me remember every thing I need to do to get the fourth bottle. I know there are a few thousand walk throughs on the web but after all the times I've beat this game I should be able to remember. Maybe it will come to me as I continue...

***SPOILER/QUESTION***

The old whitch who you give the magic mushroom to, anyone know what triggers her giving you back the magic powder? I gave her the shroom a long time ago but every time I go back she says "come back later for something special".
yeah, everyone complains that the cel-shading is going to ruin the game, but I think that it will allow for more artistic freedom. Wind Waker will definitily be a top title, no doubt about it.

otis...you have to go into the witches store.

The store 'clerk' will let you sample a free product. I believe you have to buy the free product you sampled. Only then will the witch give you back that fat sack of magic goodness.
