PC Game Pads

What are the best?

I use 'em for sports games, and my old Gravis pads won't connect to my new Dell, so I need something new to get.

Chewer suggestions would be appreciated.

I recommend a Dual Shock adapter from Radio Shack. Best $10 I ever spent.

(Not really, that was just a clever way to work the price into a sentence.)

(Maybe not so clever.)

Dual Shock adapter? What's that?

the dual shock adapter sounds like a nifty suggestion for those raised on Playstations' controller.

Nearly 10 months after purchasing my Logitech Rumblepad...which is a pathetic dual-shock clone at best...I still can't get used to it's bulky size or ackward button layout. It's been nice playing Freespace/Porche Unleashed with it, but the more I try Tony Hawk 3 on the thing, the more I want to trade both the controller and the excellent pc port in for a gamecube version. I guess I've been spoiled by the awesome dreamcast controller and can't adapt.

Just get a Dual Shock and the adapter. Makes THPS3 work like a charm. Also perfect for SNES roms.

Hm. I always thought those things would be more expensive. Looks like I'm going to Radio Shack. I can already feel the dread reaching out its icy fingers for me.

I agree about the Logitech controller. It's functional... but only barely so. Most of the reason I want a PC controller is for roms actually (nothing beats the SNES controller for SNES games of course, but it's a bit of a hassle since my niece has it on permanent loan), and the Logitech pad bites ass for twitch games. I've heard a lot of love for MS's Sidewinder as well, but it seems to suffer the same problem. Contra with anything but perfection goes from frustrating to murderous-rage-inciting.

I'm glad to know of this PSX>USB adapter, but the 2 Rad Shacks I've hit were sold out. Hopefully I'll find one soon.

Update: I found one today. It works beautifully with the GBA emulator. That will be my main use for it... emulators.

I tried it with the Splinter Cell PC demo... kinda halfassedly works. No response from UT 2K3 Demo at all.

OH BABY!

Arcade perfect Samurai Showdown II and STUN Runner on my PC, controlled with my old friend the Dual Shock!

This rocks. Thanks again for letting me know this adapter exists.
