After 3 days of searching EVERY video game retailer in Grand Rapids for three days LITERALLY, I finally got Robotech for the Gamecube at Electronics Boutique.
I love this game so much. I have been so hyped about this ever since it was Crystal Dreams on the N64. This is a billion times better. I jumped up and down as soon as the theme music started playing. I love that theme. This game is so important to me because of the hours I spent reading every book multiple times, watching all the old episodes, collecting some of the toys and even playing the Robotech RPG. This is stuff I grew up on.
The game does not disappoint. The cel-shaded graphics are amazingly smooth and colorful,a dn the game is FAST. I've only just begun the game and I'm just starting to get the hang of knowing when to transform into what mode and whatnot, but it's so fast and action packed, especially the ground missions. I love it.
The graphics purposely emulate the look of the cartoon, and it's so refreshing not to have everything (try to) look so real. When you fly through smoke or through an explosion, just like watching a scene in from the show. Beautiful.
Well, that's my glowing review. Controls are good, pace is excellent, especially as one gets to be a better pilot, and the story is easy to follow. Also, the voice acting is done by many of the same actors who did the voices in the show! Bonus!
