This was inevitable.

I'm still curious as to what kind of promotional material Dan has for this game.

Does Wal-Mart carry R-rated films? Why should software be treated any differently?

I love how the game is only referred to as XXX, as if it were hard-core porn...

Look at the last thing they said. "We are trying to please the people that bought GTA3" or something to that extent. They figure, If GTA3 sold a gazillion copies even with it's violence, profanity, and prostitution, they so can we! Come on! At least the violence and what not in GTA3 made the game's atmosphere seem more alive and threatening. But with "XXX", they're just using it to sell more copies of their game.

The developers know that this game is just a clone of every other BMX-Tony Hawk game out there, so they had to throw in this gimmick. I'm not complaining... tits are tits and poon is poon, but this only shows me that the gameplay is going to suck pretty hard. Or maybe not.

Now, I hope this gives Rockstar some ideas.

I was about to post this exact link and article...

"What we're doing here is funny," Fischbach said. "The people that we're selling to are the people who bought 'Grand Theft Auto."'
After reading that, I find it hard to complain about the media for harping constantly on video game violence. Even the people making the games are implying that violence and sex are their selling points! Makes it kind of hard to blame someone who doesn't know the industry for thinking so, doesn't it?

Of course, that Acclaim exec has no idea what he's talking about. GTA was a fun game that happened to contain "images of near-naked women and thuggish men". BMX XXX will be, in all likelihood, a lousy game that happens to contain "images of near-naked women and thuggish men". GTA sells. BMX does not. Why is it so hard to see the connection here?

Probably because the exec's eyes are blinded by dollar signs.

I have noticed the comments about bad game play, while I didn't like the first Dave Mirra it did go over pretty well and has a decent following. Unless I am mistaken XXX is running on the Mirra engine with half naked girls and crude humor, I don't know why the assumption is that it will be poor.

Because they've resorted to completely marketing the game as a digital porno? Because they're so desperate to push this image they've allowed several major retailers to drop their game? If they actually had something to sell, why cut out such a large segment of the market?

I, myself, would love to see XXX banned, and Thrill Kill released in it's place...

I doubt I could post it here, to be honest, without pissing Nick off. I have got an amazingly nasty piece of promo art for this game, but polygon rendered titties and virtual front-bottoms aren't really worth the effort, to be honest.

Every report I read about that game said, in some manner, that the game sucked on ice.

Dan, that promo stuff does sound pretty bad. I didn't think they'd go that far. I guess I was under the naive assumption that the black bars I've seen in every screenshot would actually be part of the game.

They do have something to sell though, some people like Mirra games better than the THPS games, that is a pretty ringing endorsment. I'm not to big on video game boobs but the Tony Hawk games are my favorite of all time and if Neversoft decided to make a crude version of there already great skating series I would surely pick it up.

The sad thing about this is that If acclaim keeps on getting bad press for this game it is free advertising and they'll sell more copies. I think just because of all of this the game even if it does suck It IS going to sell and I think it is almost a given that the game won't fail.
