According to Matsuno-san, new elements of the gameplay system developed for 'Final Fantasy Tactics Advance' will be incorporated into Final Fantasy XII. The revelation was reportedly made during a recent interview with Japanese publication Dorimag. While Matsuno-san refused to elaborate, he encouraged players to experience 'Final Fantasy Tactics Advance' for themselves as a prelude of things to come in Square's RPG series.
In associated news, Square has begun recruiting new development team members to work on Final Fantasy XII. Thereby, the company recently issued several print advertisements in Japan soliciting the help of 3D artists. More intriguing however, the advertisements confirmed several details regarding the game's development. Specifically, Square is utilizing 'Maya' development tools for much of the game's 3D design. In addition, Jun Akiyama and Akihiko Yoshida will serve as production designer and 3D map designer respectively. For reference, Final Fantasy XII is scheduled for release on the PlayStation2 sometime in 2003. - XenGamers
- Square has released a teaser poster of Final Fantasy XII for PlayStation 2 in the Japanese magazine Dorimaga. Square has also announced the producers for the game, Jun Akiyama will be the production supervisor (FFVII), Akihiko Yoshida (Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story character designer) will be the character design and 3D map design, and Hideo Minaba (FF Tactics, FFIX) will be the art director. - Magic Box
