Taken from www.planetxbox.com but really from Bill Gates' mouth.

"Portable Xbox in Three Years?
Thursday, January 9, 06:54 | Aramo |
Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates said that it would take his company at least three years to develop a portable console that built on the company's existing Xbox. "It'll be several years, more like three years, before you could do something like an Xbox in a portable factor," Gates explained. He made this statement in an interview with Reuters ahead of a speech at the Consumer Electronics Show."

That's great. The more portable it is, the more easily he can SHOVE IT UP HIS OWN ARSE.

One day, I'd like people who are not the CEOs of Sun microsystems explain their hatred towards Microsoft.

people are sheep latching on to whatever the media tells them to.

I kinda don't give a rats ass about the x-box save a few exclusive titles but I don't feel resentful or angry for bill trying his hand at gaming.

As for a portable edition of the x-box. I hope they learn from gameboy's woes...give that sucker a backlight.

I do wonder though, what kind of media would they use for the games...A fold out handheld utilizing tiny dvd-esque discs similar to the cubes game discs, that is a rip off of the GBA SP design. Only the control scheme would be faithful to the x-box controller.

Sounds crazy to even think about a portable x-box but hey, it only took nearly 9-10 years for a portable Super NES. With advances in technology being so rapid, they could accomplish the same in half the time.

Me, personally...I kind of wish Sega would tinker with the idea and make a portable Dreamcast. They had so many great games its a shame not enough people played them.

I wonder what Billy thinks of as 'portable.'

Are we talking Game Boy Advance SP portable or laptop computer portable? The latter seems more logical.

The GBA is like PS, there is just to much out there to really take it on.

I'll probably buy it though...

yeah, a laptop came immediately to mind. But who would buy such a thing when companies like Alienware are making laptops as powerful as desktops (to play Doom 3 or 4). It would be a marvel to have a portable gameboy-esque x-box...but they could cheat and go the laptop route easily.

Frankly, if your biggest concern is whether the godforsaken thing has a backlight or not, then YOU'RE the sheep and Bill is the Sheperd. Baaa! Baaa!

P.S. You guys have a terrific sense of humor, by the way...

Actually it only took Sega about 2 years to make a portable Genesis when they came out with the Sega Nomad, and the Nomad even used the original Genesis carts. It sucked the hell out of batteries but still was a portable Genesis. Also Neo-Geo Pocket Color came out about 3 years ago and also had 16-bit graphics that reproduced the genesis and SNES look, unlike GBA which is a 32-bit system that reproduces the Genesis and SNES look. I think it is possible for MS to make a handheld X-box, but all I have to say is that Shenmue on a portable would be the end of my social life. j/k

Noone bought it because of the hefty $150-175 price tag not sure exactly how much, but it was backlit, and sometimes you see one on Ebay every once in a while. I played it a few times, my cousin got it for Christmas when we were little, and it was great I loved playing World Series Baseball on it.

It took 6 AA batteries but came with a battery charger, and you could hook up an RFU adapter and play the game on your TV using the Nomad. There are a whole bunch on Ebay, thinking about it............
