I have decided on Wild Arms 3 or Suikoden 3, any suggestions? I like side quests, hidden bosses and super weapons if that helps any.
for what system specifically?

Me, I'm waiting patiently for Skies of Arcadia Legends. Only because I never got to finish it due to an impulsive brother who'd lord over my dreamcast.

PS2 or Cube. Did Skies of Arcadia get ported to the PS2?

Speaking of RPGs, how is Wild Arms 3?
Suikoden 3. Ive been playing it all week! Its so damn addicting, especially with the new system of play. Granted its ripped off from Wild Arms, but its damn fun, and hell i havent touched FFX becuz of it.

really??? what about phantasy star or ogre battles. there's also the lunar one?
EGM seemed to like both Phantasy Star Collection and Lunar legend. I'm intrigued myself, but am still working through Zelda.

Golden Sun is a definite buy. And should you invest and find yourself stuck ask Otis for some help...a cool mofo who provided some helpful tips back then.

Lunar was simplistic in its battle sequences, and Phantasy Star didn't offer any graphical/gameplay improvements (just a faithful translation).

Those are just the highlights.

Can't wait for Fable and Knights of the Old Republic.

And is there any other Ogre Battle game coming out for the 3 major consoles?
Tactics Ogre was released on GBA a few months back.
And anyone have a clue when kingdom under Fire: The Crusaders release date is?

Now that is a game I am looking for.
Maybe I'm the only one here who thinks this but Suikoden 3 wasn't all that great. They pride the game on having the story line from three different perspectives, sounds great, but how bout giving me one GREAT perspective instead of three so-so ones. Also the graphics are SOOOOO BADDDDDDDDD!!! OMG!!! I thought this was a PS2 game, Skies of Arcadia on Dreamcast looked 5 times better than this game. I'm sorry but FFX set the bar in graphics for RPG's on the PS2 and set the bar for story, and Suikoden 3's story imo is just boring. Wild ARms 3 is great, also great artistic look to the game, and Grandia Extreme has a great battle system and the story is alright.

Suikoden 3 was infinitely boring. I just couldn't get into the damn thing after about an hour of play.

Skies of Arcadia all the way. Great game on Dreamcast, the idea of an enhanced version on GameCube engorges me like a python.

See I am loving this game a lot. Played until almost 4AM and still didn't won't to stop. I like the simple story line that never has you reading through a half hour of text every five minutes. I also like that there is no voice acting, it is much faster to read through text than listen to people talk. One of the most annoying things in the world was dying in FFX then having to sit through the same conversations over and over again to get back to where you were.

One question to anyone who knows the series well, After countless hours of FF I can't walk past a box/barrel/pot without hitting X to see if there is something inside it. After 5 hours of play and not finding one item logic would say there is not going to be any items. Unfortunatly unless someone tells me otherwise I will continue to search every thing I come upon.

So what RPG's are coming out for X-Box that look like they have potential?

Fable (Formally known as Project Ego) - being touted as the RPG that will change RPG's forever.

Star Wars - Knight of the Old Republic, from Bioware.

Shenmue 2 (already out)

Shenmue 3

Also Microsoft will be buying Blizzard and Valve entertainment, so either one could bring an quality adventure or rpg to the system. Also, I know this has nothing to do with RPG's but G4 is reporting that Valve will make Half-Life 2 exclusive to X-box and PC.

Read: exclusive for 4 months until it becomes clear that sales won't be sufficient at which point ports will be made.

And I wouldn't call Shenmue an RPG. Plus, it's unclear on which platform Shenmue 3 is gonna be released. And I have a feeling Fable will end up just like Black and White.

I don't know Blunt. been reading quite a bit up on it and it can make the mouth slave. I suppose it is wait and see though.

Fable will kick plenty of ass, rest assured. visit the Big Blue Box Forums (boards.bigbluebox.com) and run a search for Dene, the head developer (be sure to skip everything else though). He's dropped all sorts of hints as to what will be in the game, and all of it is very reassuring. Believe me, XBOXes will be flying off the shelves once this baby comes out. And, it won't be anything like Black and White, all it is taking from Black and White are some of the aspects of freedom and the simulated world, and an enhanced version of the morphing system (which was seen on the creatures).

Believe me, the game will rule all.

Also, one month till Knights of the Old Republic! Woo doggy!

Well I went ahead and got Wild Arms 3 as well. From what I've played of both Suikoden and Wild Arms I like the former a little better. There is a certain look and feel to Wild Arms though that is hard to not smile at. Both quality RPGs that should help in the waiting for the next batch of big releases.

Kinda too much a depature from the classic RPG standard for my liking.

Most of the people who pass through here will be familiar with this scenario. You are on a free roaming world map of an RPG. You have just been told you need to go southwest to get to reach the Castle of the Assfrogs, nothing specific, just southwest. No big deal you think and head out in that direction. After twenty minutes of working your way slowly SW, passing around mountains and whatever other nonsense the game puts in your way you come to a fork in the road. You think to yourself "I've been heading SW forever, this side path has to take me where I need to go!" After fighting your way to the end of the path you find a locked cave and grudgingly head all the way back the way you came. Ten more minutes and a hundred more random battles and you finally limp into Assfrog Castle with a half your party dead. You heal up, get prepared for some more adventuring, go talk to the Assfrog King only to find out that he is going to send some people to open up that cave you past earlier and back you go the way you came.

I only present this needlessly long scenario to show the amount of rage that can build up playing Wild Arms 3 because not only does the above apply but add in the fact that you CAN'T SEE TOWNS OR SIGNS without first using this dumbass search function. You have to hit the sqaure button every three steps and some green light come out of you and if there is something in the light circle it appears. It is like the developers sat down to determine what could possibly make vague world map wandering even more shitty. Great game but that is a fucking nuisance.

sounds like a pain in the ass Otis.

Me, I'm looking for a twitch orientated rpg/hack-n-slash game right now. I'm kind of getting bored with Neverwinter Nights only because it seems I'm more of a spectator than anything. I've felt the same way with Dungeon Siege too. It's probably a godsend that some functions are automated, but I just want to be a part of the action.

Specifically. If there are any games out there where you have control over you swinging/aiming your weapons and importantly being able to block incoming attacks...that would be super. Right now, I think Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance or LOTR Two Towers would be my best bet...

If anyone has played those games, can you confirm to me that either of the two are what I'm searching for, cool. As well, if there are any games other than the aforementioned two tell me about them.

Meanwhile, I'll get back to some Zelda goodness.
well mongy I'd try Crimson Sea out then...a little hokey in dialouge and all but man you can fight hundreds of enemies at once firing your gun and swiging your sword.

At least a rental.
i'm going to hold on crimson sea. i'm waiting for knights of the old republic.
crimson sea might be an interesting romp but I don't have an x-box.

I guess I could look to finishing off either Metroid or Nolf2 to get my twitch fix for the week...as schlockbuster doesn't have Two Towers or Baldur's Gate available for rent.
