IGN gave it a 9.1. And OPM raved about it. I'll be getting it on the way home from work.

Is it out yet?

edit - whoops, I guess so.

Yep...this game is really incredibly good !!! It's like a totally different game than the first one (which I hated). And the online play is soooooo smooth !!!

Although, I bought this knowing going in that I plan on trading it towards the X-Box version when it drops in June. It will support the headset for real time trash talking online as well as custom soundtracks and 5.1 sound !!

But don't hesitate to pick this one up if you're remotely interested....it's quite fun...and the motorcycles absolutely rock !!! It's like a racing version of GTA...the cities are huge !!!

Let me just say this... there is a cheat that lets you use MACHINE GUNS AND MISSLES!!!!!! In the cheat section type savethekids and there ya go.

The machine gun physics react to people, cars, light poles, etc as if each bullet were a seperate car traveling at top speed. So when you shoot a car it starts flipping over and rolling sideways, shoot a person and they go FLYING!! It's FUCKING HILARIOUS!! I can't wait to use the machine gun / missle launcher on the motorcycle!!

HAH!

I think that cheat might have just sold me on the game.

i put in savethekids and it didn't work for me

Well the cheat works. I had first hand experience using it. L3 and R3 are the missle and machine gun buttons by the way.

Ok when you're doing a wheelie on the motorcycle, shoot a missle. It does a really cool arc into the air before it explodes. Reminds me of shooting off cannons in Zelda Wind Waker.

Alright, i got it to work. Launch one of those rockets why you're speeding down the highway to see cars land on their sides and skid down the road with sparks flying. Also i like the delay when you shoot a person with the rocket launcher. The smoke will clear and a couple of seconds later someone will drop from the sky

This is a fun ass racing game I must say. I rented it yesterday and I'm at the first motorcycle race, can't beat the thing though. I get second every time but the first place driver is always way ahead of me. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any tips would be appreciated. Those without tips will burn.

Drive faster.

Don't hit stuff when you're driving fast.

I love it, and it already supercedes the original. However, it does get hard on some runs thanks to the layout of the checkpoints but for the most part, it rocks. The opponents are agressive (often TOO agressive - when they border on cheap). The developer did a great thing by adding in "moves" that your car can do, like two-wheels and slipstream. Graphics are vivrant, with minimal problems. The music is average at best but the sound effects are nicely done. Don't really like hearing the people you're racing against constantly chattering at you but eh, you can turn it off.

And you.

Got past it, now I'm in Paris. The roads are small, traffic is heavy and it's hard as a mofo.

Got the X-Box version earlier today and I think it's great so far. I played a little of single player to unlock some cars, but Live is very fun. No lag at all, and it gets very competitive at times.

There's a cool mode called "Cruise" and basically, it has no time limit and you can just drive around the city and do whatever the hell you want. Basically, it's an excuse to just talk on your headset, which is cool if it's a bunch of your friends. Think of the possibilites...seek out cool new jumps together, set up little races. It could be VERY fun.

I rented it, and beat it in 5 days, playing almost non-stop. I really enjoyed it. The cars are AWESOME in it. Beautiful graphics, lots of fun to play. Good music, and overall a really good time. I would recommend it to fans of the original, and the street racing scene in general.
