Heres a magazine cover scan I picked up at planethalflife.com. Now if this isn't Half Life 2, then I'm Bobby Knight. That is a HEV suit.

Sexy.

Yep, that's Half-Life without a doubt. Right down to the crowbar. How long before these magazines hit the shelves?

I wonder if that's Gordon Freeman or not.
When did they change it? They removed the cover-up filter. It's absolutely Half-Life 2 (because it says so!)
Oooo... neat-o. Looks like good ol' Gordo to me!
Yeah, thats old Gordon. Yeah, that's me changing my pants. Yeah, that's me hoping its better than the asspunch that was Unreal 2.

Hey I didn't change that. Cool. So it is Freeman. I have to know what happened with his deal with the G-Man at the end of HL 1.
Fucking INCREDIBLE. The sequel to my favorite game of all-time.

Yes, that is without question Freeman. Oh, lord, I can't wait.
I only hope the game doesn't fall apart near the end.

Cool news no less, but what country is this mag printed in btw?

It's Dutch. I'm not sure if worldwide editions of PC Zone will have the same content. I'm sure that other magazines in the US/UK will have the same basic information. Expect a translated version of the Half-Life 2 stuff from PC Zone to surface online not long after the 28th.
my home country!

Finally!

God, the original is a classic.

The picture's the same as the one at the top of this page, but it's bigger. It looks like this'll be the game we hear about in every PC/Video game magazine over the next month.

That CGW cover makes me happy in the pants. Half Life 2 and Full Throttle 2. Wow.

Exactly. All this talk about Half Life 2 and I look at the cover and see there's going to be a sequel to one of LucasArts finest (non SW) endeavors. Now if only they'd make Loom 2 for me.
What's Gordon doing with a woman?

He and the G-Man didn't work out?
Did the original Half-Life ever make it to a console? I'd like to see what all the hype is about.

PS2 has it. I didn't think it was that fun at all. Could have just ported it bad though I guess.

Shit, scratch what I said. Busy at work and not paying attention. Was saying Half Life and thinking Red Faction. It is a great game, a little dated but a lot of fun.
You folks couldn't possibly want...a SCREENSHOT, could you?

<a href="http://www.hardforums.com/showthread.php?s=bcf1eda21e7c972d7600df88ded0875b& threadid=600426&perpage=15&pagenumber=5" target="_blank">http://www.hardforums.com/showthread.php?s=bcf1eda21e7c972d7600df88ded0875b& threadid=600426&perpage=15&pagenumber=5</a>

From the forum with the mag. shot:

this comment is from a firingsquad.com member

My Half Life 2 PC Gamer came in the mail today.
Some interesting quick things I've read so far:
- Girl character is not playable
- Same author of story as the first Half Life
- Interactive scripted scenes
- Barney and the G-Man both get face lifts of
sorts
- There will be a Half Life 3
- Half Life 2 comes out Sept. 30
- The Plot: There is a new alien invasion and some
of the Xen aliens are now your allies.
- The game takes place in a Eastern European
city.
- The game supposedly will be able to run on a
DX6-compatible TNT card
- Mentions a more robust mod making expierence
- Cool in-game psychics

Final paragraph in the article that I thought was
kind of cool:
"THE LAST DEMO is over, and i's the scripted
sequence to end all scripted sequences. Or... was
it scripted?
"We're going on this ride with the player," says
Gabe Newell assuringly. "And we intednt to scare
the crap out of you."

I can't f'ing wait.

Yet more scans...now I've got a good feel for the graphics engine, large complex environemnts with distinct Valve mood and feel. I especially like the Isengard style tower.

Thank God for internet message boards, the only remaining home of the 1st Amendment.

It's Buddy, the Six String Samurai!

In other news: HUGE, PULSATING STIFFY.

For those who didn't get to see them before they got pulled:

As Verbal pointed out, don't try hosting them yourself and linking, I don't think anyone wants to be threatened with lawsuits.

As usual, haul ass, they'll likely be gone soon.

According to the articles, the games engine has been designed to run on lower-end machines, so it will run on a Pentium 700mhz with a DX6-class graphics card. The optimum specs are a 2ghz system with a GeForce 4 card.

One thing that bothers me - No mention of an Xbox release. It's inevitable, but if Valve released the PC and Xbox versions simulatenously, not only would they bury Doom 3, I'm sure they'd shift a shit-load of consoles for Microsoft. That and the fact that I don't want to have to wait longer for the Xbox version.
Tech requirements look reasonable. As with most PC games, the better your rig the more the snaz.

I like the "stealth" release approach much better. They kinda shot themselves in the foot the first time around, showing screenshots about 4 years before the game actually hit shelves. Fortunately the game was really good so it didn't affect much, but they still caught a lot of crap about it. Lesson learned, there.

I wish Otis was back instead of Barney. Otis looked like Tom Sizemore.

Yeah right. Is that Sept 30th date for this year or 2004?
This year.

I have faith that Valve can make the date.
How excited am I for this game?

I reserved it tonight. Yep. First in the whole store.
It looks awesome.

I can actually run it on my computer without significant upgrades.

I can't wait.

After Team Fortress 2 and Half-Life, Valve is going to be sure they make this release date. They'd better make it, at least.

I'll miss the Black Mesa facility though. Even though every inch of it was probably covered in the original game and the expansion packs.
