Couldn't agree more.

also, playing NFL Blitz against a friend for like 3 games while doing shots of cheap vodka between quarters(5 min). That was some of the coolest football I have ever played.

- Seeing Mario in 3-D in Mario 64

- The first time Sonic shot of the screen in Sonic 2

Most have already been mentioned, with the black and white scene of Wind Waker being the standout for me.

Another one of my faves is the end of Yellow Head Building scene in Shenmue 2. In particular the final attack of that fat thug. Cue a flashback in which Ryo thinks of the move Lishao Tao taught him. Make the QTE and you'll be treated to a brilliantly choreographed sequence of Ryo opening up a can of whoop-ass. And all the while your enemy is watching, hanging down a helicopter. Brilliant, brilliant game.

GTA3 Getting the tank without codes.

Killer Instinct Seeing the arcade game for the first time and thinking I was watching one of the greatest video game players ever. ULTRA COMBOOOOO!!!!! Five minutes later would be one of the worst moments when I realized the combos were all pre-programmed.

Conker Whole game, start to finish.

Metroid: Prime Being amazed that a FP game could have spectacular platform jumping. Getting the morph ball for the first time and using it in a dark tunnel.

The bit in Quake when you step over the symbol in front of the door, the two stone cubes lift up and merge into the door, and the fiend jumps out at you. Scared the life out of me.

I love hitting people with those green turtle shells. They're merrily going on their way, safe in the conviction that nobody can hit them from behind with a green turtle shell, then BAM!

-- Defeating the final bad guy in Icewind Dale with the last surviving member of my party, and with him down to only one hit point on top of it. You could have heard me screaming in Miami.

-- The time-travel portion of Neverwinter Nights. Just incredibly good story-telling.

-- Dogfighting in multiplayer on Crimson Skies in a black Bloodhawk on the Manhattan map, sticking low to the ground and flying down the city streets. I never got shot down and managed to make my opponents crash about a dozen times trying to chase me. I can't aim for shit in that game, but boy could I fly.

Fuck yeah!

First time I saw this it was late at night, everything was dark and quiet and I swear, when that fiend jumped out, I leapt out of my chair and away from the monitor!

Of course, I died and had to start the level over because I had been so engrossed I'd forgotten to save, but ohhh, it was worth it.

Just a few from the top of my head:

-the end fight in Bionic Commando
-beating Mike Tyson in Mike Tyson's Punchout
-the ending to Zelda- A Link to the Past
-the ending to Super Mario 2- still on of my all time favorites, I fucking love that music.

-the cable car ride with Aeris in FF7. Aeris getting skewered. The heartbreaking realization that there's NO WAY to bring Aeris back.

-beating Super Mario Bros in 12 minutes
-the betrayal mission in Tie Fighter (mentioned a few times above, you guys are SO right on!)
-skipping school to play Ultima Underworld and realizing what true video game addiction is

-the feeling in my gut when I ran across an alien in X-COM in a dark corner with only 1 soldier who had only a few shots left... in a pistol...

-raiding a witches coven in Darklands, and then stopping the Apolcalypse

-all of Sam and Max
-making grog and the insult duels from Monkey Island

Defeating the predator sniper in AVP 2 using movie logic: Hiding behind some crates and throwing flares to confuse it with the heat signature and draw it out in the open.

"When I think of asphalt, I think of Maureen..." and everything from that moment on in Full Throttle.

Staying true to the light side at the Sith academy on Korriban, getting discovered, and then single handedly taking down the entire academy. And those dark side folk think they're tough. They just never had the pleasure of using Force stasis.

Going down some unkown corridor in Ultima Underworld and getting freaked out because you have no idea what might be ahead. That game is brilliant.

I remember one night I was playing Silent Hill 2 in my pitch black room, scared shitless. I made my way into a bathroom(can't remember which location it was though), and started looking in the stalls. The very last stall in the corner of the bathroom had it's door shut, and hitting X by it said that it was locked and you were unable to open it. All of the sudden as I'm making my way out the bathroom, I hear a man scream very loudly for a split-second, then a big THUD. It sounded like he slammed his head against a wall and knocked himself out cold mid-scream. Scared the shit out of me.. Thought about it alot the next day, for some odd reason. It just amazed me how a game could have disturbed me that much, that it could have that much of an impact.

I like the few mentions of Mario Kart and the Green turtles and bananna peels. I kinda of a newbie to that series, only started playing in college.

I also would like to mention Silent Hill 2.

The scene where you fine out that is was you that killed your wife this whole time, and yet you still went to Silent Hill looking for her. I tell ya, one of the best scenes in a game, music was awesome as well.

Hey FutekiNa. For Full Throttle, ya damn right. In fact, most momments from all LucasArts adventure games. I can hear Ben's gravely voice just saying that line right now...I'm glad they're making a sequal. hopefully it'll be longer.

Good call Ryo.. I would also like to mention the part in Silent Hill 1 where you go into a yard that has a "Beware of dog" sign.. As you make your way into the yard, you see a basket ball hoop, with a large bloodstain on the back board, and the dogs head sitting under the hoop.Just the thought of someone scoring a basket with a dog's noggin'.. freaked me out.

I would like to add......REZ

Particularly Area 6, the "How the World was formed?" level. Great music to it, and one hell of ride and sight seeing. Just got the soundtrack for the game about a month ago, damn I love the "Fear is the mind-killer" song.

Have you seen any of the screen shots? It looks oddly old and new at the same time. Count me in as pumped.
Yeah, the new Full Throttle does look...interesting. I like how they're going with the Grim Fandango/Monkey Island 4 3d adventure style. As long as I can still have him say, "I'm not putting my lips on that," the game is golden.

Zanarkand102:

The Love Scene in FFX, where Tidus and Yuna were in the lake and Yuna started crying because she couldn't go to Zanarkand. And then went in for the kiss, and they madeout, such a beautiful scene.

Also the ending to FFX, when Tidus started disappearing, and Yuna keep saying shaking her head "No, no, no". And then Tidus tells her that he has to go, and he is sorry that he couldn't show her Zanarkand. Tidus then says goodbye, and starts walking towards the light, and then Yuna runs after him, to hug him, but she runs right through him and falls down. Then Tidus starts crying when the green screen is behind him(raise the volume on your TV). But wait Yuna then rises up, with each of them facing back to back Yuna tells Tidus, "I love you" (Finally after 10 games someone says it.) Tidus then turns around, knowing he can't truly hug Yuna he puts his arms around her, and keeps them there. He then walks through he and jumps off the ship.
This is great..I loved all the animation parts in FFX in fact....very very nice in deed and really fun to watch!

To be an after-school library tutor again. Those were the freaking days. Sure, it was all good to help grade school kids with math and other assorted questions, but the perks were well worth the time...as after recruiting some friends into tutoring with me...we got permission to do some after-hours gaming on the library's LAN. We secretly installed our copies of Duke Nukem 3D, and spent so many hours playing that game.

For me, the coolest moment was one of the first games we played...in which I amassed a huge assed collection of laser mines. I riddled one of the hallways with the bastards and watched giddily as the guy across the table scowl as he got obliterated by the numerous explosions after tripping the wire.

Some games need that laser trip mine weapon. I don't see it implemented enough (or at all) in games these days. Goldeneye was the last game that recreated that old loving feeling, or something.

The second coolest moment had to be finding the jetpack and raining hell down on the poor SOB's below who didn't have a clue I had a jetpack.

Dreaming about those duke matches last night is swaying me to pick up Battlefield 1942 and the expansions, especially the secret weapons edition.

This is gonna sound really stupid to you, but for me, it was so exciting playing Die Hard Nakatomi Plaza (one game I am alone in liking) for the first time, and seeing that every room and floor that was in the film was perfectly and accurately translated to the game. I'm gaga over the architecture of that building.

A couple of, not the coolest, but the bloodiest/most shocking moments in video games:

-Ben Bertolluci/Chief Irons getting ripped in half by William Birkins' offspring in Resident Evil 2. Best "holy fucking shit" scene of the whole series. The character death animations, which varied depending on the monster that killed you, were pretty nasty as well.

-Seeing one of the three main characters from Fear Effect dying halfway through the game via facial impalement.

-Dante disimpaling himself from Alastor, with blood flowing a go-go.

-Using the chainsaw in Vice City. Booyah.

-Vamp knifing his way through a Seal Team.

-and finally, the one scene to rule them all (WARNING: MEGA SPOILER): Silent Hill 3, Heather swallowing an abortion pill and vomiting the foetus of God, followed by Claudia eating said foetus. Yuck.

I know some of these are probabbly already listed, but hey, I wanna contribute too!

Ok, in no particular order

-CastleVania:SotN-When you crack the orb over Richter's head, freeing him of Shaft's spell and beating the ga-...HOLY CRAP, IT'S A WHOLE 'NOTHER CASTLE! Well, technically its just inverted, it was still a great idea. Not to mention the game allready kicked MAJOR ass.

-HALO- Kicking back to the final cinema of the game, and taking well-deserved breather after the final warthog run. Destroying the planet, taking out an entire species, not to mention some covies, which won't hurt the war effort (not ours anyway only to have the dust settle and our little friend emerge from it all. and the little more bad-assery from MC.

-Grim Fandango-Reaching the ninth underworld, ending to one of the best PC games ever. VIVA LA REVALUTION!

that's it for now, I'll be back though!

Another moment, one that's not so big, but fun non the less

-Buffy the Vampire Slayer-Dusting your fist vamp.Fans of the show know it, it was just pure magic! (not to mention fighting the master in corpeal form!)

- Setting a grueling pace and bringing zero food, then stopping to hunt over and over, leaving hundreds of pounds of excess bison meat rotting in the sun in Oregon Trail.

- Managing to jump on top of a chicken and ride it around town in Landstalker.

- Acro Circus, motherfuckers. Acro Circus.

- "Just a girl. Get out of here!"

- Walking up that wall near the end of the first level in Double Dragon, for absolutely no reason.

- Grenade hopping, and the insane lengths to which you could take it, in the Marathon series.

Ahhh, Tie Fighter, it's been years since I thought about that game (mostly because I don't have a sound card that works with DOS anymore). I definetly remember the two moments brought up, due to the fact that they both took me so long to get past.

Playing Knights of the Old Republic and realizing that Star Wars games can still be damn good even after a few years of (mostly) disappointing titles.

In MGS, when Snake starts to show more of his compassionate side and acts less like a somewhat cliched, hardened, semi-bitter veteran. Also, the incredibly fun Psycho Mantis fight.

First time playing any Zelda game.

First time playing either Shenmue game. Hell, I still love them, even though I only have access to the English dubs.

Starting and eventually finishing FFV (can't remember if it was ever officially released in America), FFVI(or III in America), FFVII, FFVIII, FFIX (yes, I'm admitting a soft spot for both 8 and 9), and FFX. I'll admit I haven't played all the way through the first four though. The ending to X is one of my favorites of all time

Both Jet Set Radio games, goddamn I loves me some funky music. Except for those Rob Zombie and Cold tracks...

Every golden bit of dialogue and the hallucinations in Eternal Darkness. Not to mention the fun gameplay. Just check out my sig...

That you don't play as Snake throughout the whole game in MGS2 being spoiled by a friend who wasn't thinking at the time. This actually allowed me to be more open towards playing as Raiden. Either way, I love the whole damn game.

Super Mario 2...god I love pulling up those plants.

The first time I was able to beat a Megaman game (part 4).

Buying GTA3 before everyone and their grandma had played it. Then promptly asking people if they had played it, most of whom said something along the lines of, "What's GTA?" The fact that it was the first GTA game that was good enough to shell out $50 for doesn't hurt either

Playing the original F-Zero.
Playing F-Zero GX.

Beating Halo and still trying my damndest to beat it on Legendary mode

Beating any good game on the hardest difficulty setting.

Nights with the Saturn analog controller.

The two Panzer Dragoon games I own (the original and Orta)

Being killed by a grue for the first time in Zork.

Trying to get as far as I could on Kid Chameleon for the Genesis but never, ever getting to the end.

When I first got addicted to Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast, which leads to me becoming addicted to Soul Calibur 2 (I picked up the Cube version because of Link)

First time viewing some of my fave games in progressive scan mode ^_^

Buying Gunvalkyrie the week it came out and still not being able to beat it.

Playing the Viewtiful Joe demo and realizing how much that game will rock me.

Any time a game can make me truly care for the characters and their struggles (see MGS and Eternal Darkness above)

Okay, so I'm not all that specific with these, sorry. Too many great, memorable things for me to list, half of which are being clouded by all the awesome stuff that's been coming out over the past few years.

Morrowind - Realizying the epic size of the gameworld and how detailed it was. Then noticing that anything you drop will stay there for the rest of the game.

Halo - When I got inside a banshee and realized I could fly in it! Also when I heard the short aliens screaming when I ran at them! Hilarious!

Vice City - Driving a motorcycle down a long stretch of road while listening to Tears For Fears!!!

GTA3 - Discovering that I could clobber a whole crowd of people to death with a baseball bat and then kill the paramedics who showed up and steal their car! Getting into a giant fire fight with the police while having a 6 star? rating and having a good hiding spot.

Omikron - Finding a bar where David Bowie is playing in concert!
