Soul Calibur 2

Has anyone heard any reviews on this game (specifically the X-Box version). Is it quality?

I've been playing it since April, and it's fucking fantastic. Best beat-em-up I've played on the PS2.

The new issue of EGM (SC2 covers) has reviews for every version. The concensus appears to be that the XBox version is the way to go, followed by GC then PS2. The reviews ran through the usual stuff: really nice graphics, great combat system, great fun with two players. The few derogatory comments were limited to moderate-to-low replay value on the single player game and a Weapons Master (Quest) mode that isn't quite as good as other games (like Virtua Fighter 4).

Also, they mentioned that a lot of the new or unlockable characters are just existing characters with different looks. Still, this one is high on my want list. The first Soul Calibur is my favorite fighter EVER.

Soul Calibur 2 is a fighting game. Beat'em up is Streets of Rage or Final Fight. A game reviewer should know that!

Also, I'd take the PS2 version over the GC. Not a big difference in terms of graphic but the GC controller is horrible for games like this. Though it's the version with the best exclusive character.

Meh. I've always called any game where you beat someone up a beat-em-up.

Crazy foo'

This is just a kick in the fucking teeth. I want to play as Link but there is just no way I could play Soul Calibur with the "first party games only, all others go screw" controller. Nintendo puts so much time and effort into pissing me off.

If you really wanna play as Link, I'd suggest trying to find an adaptator that allows you to use PS2 controllers on the GC. Handles a lot better that way.

Just buy a controller adapter, otis. I don't think they are too expensive.

I think I'll go with the X-Box version. I don't care too much about the system-exclusive characters so I'll go with the one I know will have the best graphics, sound, etc. Plus I don't think the XBox controller will be too much of a bear to use.

Thanks all. I'm probably picking up an X-Box next month and I was wondering if I should pick up SC2 along with KOTOR.

Yes, and don't forget a copy of Halo.

Budget's tight, but I'll do my best. The only reason that I'm hesitant to buy Halo is that I have a fairly small television at college and I think Halo multiplayer would lose something.

Then buy Halo when it comes out for the PC.

No offense, but FUCK NO. Unless it's Jezzball, Solitare, or Worms, I HATE PC gaming.
