Otagi: Myth of Demons

I picked up the disgustingly over priced X-box mag so I could check out the nine minute Halo 2 trailer. They had a playable demo for this and I must say it was fun as hell. The double jump is just amazing as you go insanely high and have the option of floating down while killing all kinds of weird crap. It has a Devil May Cry vibe without being confined to streets and hallways. Everything is destructable. I was busting up a wall that looked to be 5 feet thick. I hit one demon with a powers shot, knocked him through a house that fell apart and into another demon who then got smashed on the side of a cliff. Fun. Don't know how many levels or total game time or anything but at the very least this should be a hell of a rental.

This puppy I have been really looking at.

I may very well pick it up when it comes out (which is when again?)

I seem to have more money now..

What's that? Halo trailer? I sense a trip to Hastings coming on. What's on the cover?

Deus Ex 2: Invisible War.

What's this game about anyway? I may pick the mag up tonight.

Nine minute Halo trailer all in-game, no CG. Really, really amazing.

CT - Not sure of the exact day but it's next week some time. I think the 26th.

They didn't really give much info regarding story or anything. You start the demo in this big ass dark valley with walls, houses and other crap. Think Tenchu but big and open. You fight for a while and are then prompted to find three goblets for no discernable reason. Finding them isn't really hard but it showcases just how high and cool the jumping feature in this game is. If you think jump/float fighting is fun in DMC then you will love it in this. After getting the goblets there is a boss battle and that ends the demo.

Of course this review comes from the X-Box hater himself. So his reviews says a lot about this being a fairly decent game.

But yea probably a rental.

Is he? I haven't read very much from the IGN X-box people.

This game is fucking amazing. I may or may not pick it up.

That's funny. If it's "fucking amazing" doesn't that guarantee a purchase?

this is a sega game right?

I find it interesting that this is exclusive to X-Box and PS2 is getting the ALTER BEAST Remake.

Both games look good.

not much but a few screens.

Cool. But does everything HAVE to be in 3-D now? What's wrong with an old-fashioned side-scroller? I hope the original game is included as a bonus or something.

I played the Otagi demo, too. Fun, but hardly revolutionary. I could see the "smash everything in the level to pieces" gimmick getting real old, real quick. It was fun for five minutes, but I can't imagine investing fifty bucks in this sucker.

Plus, the "play through 14 levels, then play through the exact same 14 levels with only minor cosmetic changes" approach to game design pisses me off. If you're only going to build half the game, just charge me half the price.
