Remember Lucasarts' classic "Full Throttle"?

Well, it's getting a SEQUEL!!!

It's part of the E3 crowd, but it deserves it's own thread:

From <a href="http://www.lucasarts.com/press/releases/59.html" target="_blank">LucasArts</a> site:

A CLASSIC RETURNS -- LUCASARTS REVS UP FULL THROTTLE® FOR LONG AWAITED SEQUEL

Acclaimed Classic Adventure Roars Back to Action on Next Generation Consoles and PC in 2003

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- May 21, 2002 -- Full Throttle, one of the most loved classic adventures from LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC, returns in a long awaited action packed sequel for next generation consoles and PC in 2003. The follow up to the award winning game from 1995 will once again feature one of LucasArts' most popular and enduring characters, the swaggering outlaw biker Ben, leader of a renegade motorcycle gang called the Polecats. The free wheeling action-adventure will offer a humorous original story, furious bare knuckle fighting, and the thrill of high speed biking.

"Full Throttle is one of LucasArts' greatest and most beloved original games," says Simon Jeffery, president of LucasArts. "We can't think of a better brand or character to lead LucasArts' charge into a new era of original game development. Ben so perfectly symbolizes our legacy and yet has just the right mix of attitude and edge to appeal to a new generation of game players."

I had played about 70% of the original and sort've lost interest in it, but it's a damn classic and this news excites me.

The LucasArts adventure games REALLY need to come back. I want Maniac Mansion 3 NOW!!!

And let me be the second.

THESE GAMES NEED SEQUELS!!!!

Not only are they some of the most fun games ever, but some of the laugh-out-loud funniest.

I think that there is a new Sam and Max game being prepped for the X box.

And a Full Throttle sequel? HELL YEAH! I loved this game. They gotta get Mark Hamill back to do the villain. He was excellent in the first one, all creepy but suave. And the intro kicked ass. I still have that song coming up in my head from time to time.

Verbal, thanks for the info! Man, you've brought back many fond memories. I'm first and foremost an adventure fan (translation: the least-respected gamer) and games like Full Throttle, Sam & Max, Maniac Mansion (oh, lest I forget, INDIANA JONES & THE FATE OF ATLANTIS!) have a special place in my heart. These are basically puzzle games wrapped around in a storyline, and that is why I love to play these games. To see the stories unfold. Interactive Fiction is a better way to describe adventure gaming.

As for Full Throttle, man that is awesome news! I loved FT. It was a bit on the short side (and actually easy -- Indiana Jones...Atlantis was the toughest, by far!) but I loved the animation and simple gameplay (it reminded me of Philip Marlowe Private Eye, the easiest adventure game ever [in fact, it wasn't even a game!]). I spent many hours trying to figure out what to do with the pink Energizer bunnies in the landmines.

YES! One of my all-time favorite graphic adventures. Great to see Lucasarts remembering some of the games that made them great in the first place.

Shit I want Dark Forces upgraded to the Quake 3 engine. I probably played that game about 100 times through.

Agreed.

What if they made a CLONE WARS game that was a first-person shooter (using the Quake/RTCW engine) and had Multi-Player mode?? You could have maps/objectives where half the players are battle droids with cool weapons and gadgets and the other half are Clone Troopers and Jedi. Holy paul... I'd never get anything done!

Sweet imagine entering an empty room and in roll five destroyer droids. I am so there.

That needs to be made... PERIOD.

"Galaxies" might be cool, but NOTHING would compare to a solid 1st-person multi-player "Star Wars" game in the vein of Quake and Return To Castle Wolfenstein.

Uh, that would be Jedi Knight II. I would like a solid MP shooter set in the prequel era, however.

Bret, first of all, I LOVE that sig. Awesome.

Secondly, you can tell Lucas-Mania has gone rampant when a thread about "Full Throttle" swerves to "Star Wars" games (granted, the title is precluded with the word, "Lucasarts").

Thirdly, I'm glad it did.

Anyway, I second Bret's MP shooter set in the prequel era. That definitely would rock. But, currently, I'm very happy with JK2 (just got it a few days ago [actually, the legal copy] and have fallen in love with the multiplayer game).

Multi is great, Voltes, but PLEASE experience the single-player. It took me a week to beat it, and admittedly, I used god mode for one tough fight (not the last one, though) but other than that I did everything legit.

And what a game it is. Completely true to the SW universe, and there is almost no other feeling in gaming than when you did the Jedi trials. The force theme plays while you are doing it, and then when you finally get your lightsaber it makes you wanna cry. No joke.

Verbal, I haven't visited the JK2 thread because I wanted to have a clear opinion of the game. So far though, what the heck is up with all of the puzzles? Granted it is cool but I somewhat lost my patience with that 3 monitors (red, green, and blue). I already checked what the codes are for each screen yet I can't seem to activate the 4th locked door and bridge. You figure I should be patient for a game like this since I'm used to being stuck in adventure games, but dammit, I'm in a rush to use my lightsaber!

Anyway, I ain't giving up and I will beat this game soon enough (but, Dungeon Siege is sucking up most of my time though).

Just give in and use a FAQ, I needed one for that puzzle I think.

Other than that, though, the majority of the puzzles are very straightforward.

Once you get that lightsaber......the game gets a LOT easier, but sadly you're a ways away from it. You'll get there, though.... wink

Oh, and BTW...have ANY of you guys been able to find the Grim Fandango soundtrack online anywhere? I've tried and tried, and damn if it isn't one of the best soundtracks ever. Let me know if you ever see it.
