I can honestly say that I was not at all excited about this FF game, but this soundtrack has changed my mind somewhat. I'm a huge fan of celtic music and this soundtrack fits the bill throughout. The composer has also worked on Final Fantasy XI and Chocobo Dungeon 2, but only as a helping hand, this is her first solo soundtrack. The heavy use of the celtic sound helps illustrate the screenshots and videos I have seen from the game. The soundtrack as a whole has a very innocent overall sound to it that hasn't been in FF all that much, aside from FFXI and the SNES FF games. From listening to the soundtrack, it seems that the story for game is going to be very light-hearted and fun for all-ages. There are only a few "serious" tracks on the OST, but even those don't really have an evil overtone to them. The OST also uses alot of panflutes and other wind instruments to complete the celtic feel to the score, and all the songs are arranged very well. There is also very heavy use of organic acoustics and organic drums similar to the Suikoden Celtic Collection albums if anyone other me has heard those wink . The score does have some vocal songs on it, but those are really nothing to write home about, just nothing special, no real power ballad, but I guess this game doesn't really call for one so it doesn't matter. One thing noticably missing from the OST are battle themes. From what I hear, the music won't change when you go into a battle, which might be problem of not getting "hyped" for a battle to take place. Sadly though there is only one classic FF theme on the soundtrack, and that is the "Moogle" theme, but fits in well with the celtic overtone very much so. The score is very melo and laid back. Makes you want to get a piece of wheat and chew on for a while, but overall I don't really see any pick faults with the sound or mood for it, unlike the trash that was the FFX-2 OST. A few standout tracks from the album are "Water of Life", "Twlight in Dreamland", "The Time of Many Smiling Faces","Promised Grace", "Amidatti and Eleonor too", and "Magii is Everything". Excellent job done by Kumi Tanioka, and hopefully she gets to do more, and expand her musically talents to other games.

"Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Original Soundtrack" Overall Score 8.8/10
