I got it from IGN. It ain't all that great, but it's a fun little diversion, and some of the stunts are cool. Wonky interface, but it's all customizable. Neat little retro feel to it.

<EDIT> The Jedi Academy demo was just released as well, waiting for more mirrors as we speak...

SWEET!

Lines are still short at Fileplanet...

All the servers on 3DGamers is clogged.

For Jedi Academy, that is.

At FilePlanet you're looking at only 10-12 minute waits for the demo. ARRRGHHHH!!!! Come on. Nine minutes man. Hold in there.

Almost done downloading Jedi Academy now. I'll tell you what I think of it soon.

Well, I played it, and its a pretty cool game. Originally this was to be an expansion pack to Jedi Outcast, and it shows. The graphics are completely the same, and they look a little "bland". They still are passable though. Lightsabering is handled exactly the same too, control-wise. The demo has 2 levels, one on Tatooine, which has you fighting alongside Chewbacca. I thought that was pretty fun. The other one tasks you with ridding bad guys from a Chandrila Jedi temple.

It's a good game, but if you've played Jedi Outcast, this will seem like old news. The multiplayer stuff looks to be cool though.

I just love the fact that you can finally use double-bladed or just two damn lightsabers at the same freaking time. The Chandrila mission's making me want more, so I'll give a precautionary buy on this. If you want more of Jedi Outcast, dig in, if not, KOTOR's still coming out for you non-X-Box crazies.

Very, very good demo.

It's still the Quake 3 engine, so it's low poly. But they've added pixel shaders, so all the textures have a lot of diemension. Still, it doesn't run very good compared to other Quake 3 engine games. It runs worse than UT2K3 on my machine.

The ability to use dual and darth maul sabers is the main draw here. You pretty much just run around, and use the lightsaber in a hurtful manner, but it's very fun.

On the Tatooine mission, shoot C-3PO a few times for some funniness.

There's a Bit Torrent link to the Jedi Academy demo at <a href="http://www.3dgamers.com/dl/games/jediacademy/jediacademydemo.exe.html" target="_blank">3DGamers.com</a>, and as the Bit Torrent client uploads the file to other users as you download it, the more people are downloading the faster it goes for everyone.

Jedi Academy- BADASS.

Completely similar to Outcast, but BETTER. Just so much fun to play. I'm completely excited for it now.

Anyone know why my entire computer freezes every time I try and install this demo? It gets to the setup window, and then everything locks and I have to reboot.

As am I. The game improves on several things which are all good like the visual hint that you just did a Force Pull on someone.

I hope this turns out to be good.

I really liked the Jedi Tomb level, and I thought the Quake 3 engine looked marvelously implemented there. I'm gonna go through it with each lightsaber type, just for the hell of it.

Me likey.

The Tatooine level was very not good, but the Jedi Temple level was pretty incredible. It gave me plenty of chances to bounce around and try out nifty new lightsaber tricks, and the enemies were interesting too. Those dang cultist jedi bounce around like fleas on caffeine, and they have some nasty tricks that make my tried-and-true "push 'em over, then stab them" formula useless.

The ones without lightsabers are fun too... they take some creativity to beat.

Oh yeah, and the new animations are AWESOME. Especially the one where you stab an enemy on the ground with a double-sided saber.

Best part of the demo- the Sith jumping at you from another section of the tomb and using force push to make sure they don't fully make it across.

Does anyone happen to know why I get stops and sounds repeats every 30 sceonds like I am? This was happening with BF 1942 too and I wonder what I can do to my comp to stop this? Does this mean my video card is going kaputz?

I was just about to say this. It's great when a Sith jumps at you, only to stop in mid-air, fall, and you get to hear his yell all the way down.

CTDelude: For sound bugs, try adjusting in-game settigns like lowering sound quality, disabling 32/EAX, stuff like that.

Or, update your sound card/motherboard drivers.

I don't know what you mean by 'stops'. If you meen frequent memory access pauses, then you need more RAM or a video card with more VRAM. System specs would help.

Ah...the game freezes and I get sound effects repeating over and over again.

I have a rather high end machine so I figure something might be going out of whack...
