Madden 2003 for the PC -- have it, sure would like to play it....

I bought this the other night and haven't been able to get past the load screen -- it just dumps me to my desktop when the status bar finished going across the screen. I've disabled background programs, updated drivers, changed resolutions and color, nothing. And the "next business day response" from EA has about three hours to live up to its name. Anyone else have this game and having this problem?

Something to try - it worked when I had a similar problem with NWN, and was related to their particular use of SafeDisk for copy protection.

Check your IDE ATA/ADAPI controllers - you can get a driver update from Intel, assuming you are on an Intel PC.

what are your system specs? I'd hate to buy the newest incarnation of NHL and discover similar troubles...I may just have to get the cube version instead.

maybe deserving of it's own thread, but a minor question.

Does anyone know if Sega is still using Harry Neal and Bob Cole for the play-by-play in the upcoming NHL 2K3 games? Probably the best commentators in the game today...and their inclusion in NHL 2K for the dreamcast made it a must own.

EA wrote me back, told me to delete the Music folder from the game directory and that did the trick.

and soon next, you'll have to layer a wad of peanut butter on your video card just to access the season mode.

Great article by Bill Simmons ("The Sports Guy") on ESPN.com's Page 2. Breaks down the purchase of "The most important video game ever released," Madden 2003.

And just for the record, I haven't bought it yet. I just got NCAA 2003 and hardly have time to play it. I'll probably break down and get Madden for Xmas or my birthday in November.

Playing this as of late, and the only thing that really bugs me is it seems that every time I dive to make a tackle, I get hit with a Facemask call. Grrrr.
