Looks like I'm getting a Gamecube again...

I bumped into an old co-worker from the video game store days and he has a certain plumber game. On his urge, I followed him to his car where he had a fucking car lighter adapter and a Gamecube with a pop-up screen like the PSone has and I played MARIO SUNSHINE.

Sold. Big time.
Hm. Surprising. I'll have to check it out.
I don't think Mario will do it for me this time...but if Metroid Prime is good...it might push me into finally adding a Cube to the arsenal.
Will it be as good as MARIO: The Golden Showers ?

Only time will tell...
Does this mean we can add "Gamecube" to the forum description now?
Yes sir, August 26th. It's one of the reasons I have a Gamecube. Can't wait...
I'll have to play Nick's copy and LOVE IT before I'm sold on this game. Looks snoozeworthy so far.
I'm totally with Nick on this. I was sold simply from the screenshots, but I got the chance to play the new Mario game at a local store, and it got me real darn excited. Mario is the reason I bought the Nintendo 64, which had games I loved, but turned out to be a gigantic disappointment. Looks like history might be repeating itself, but what the f? I'm buying it.

It's going to be tough. The early word on Mario is that it's a must-have, but there's three or four other titles coming out in the next two weeks that are competing for my money. Super Monkey Ball 2, The Thing, Onimusha 2, and Turok all seem to be contenders.

Anyone got a couple hundred dollars to spare?
Using all mine on the following:

Super Mario Sunshine GC
Super Monkey Ball GC
SOCOM PS2
Network adapter PS2
NFL 2K3 PS2
Buffy Xbox
Dead to Rights Xbox

Where the hell were all these games 2 months ago when I had money to burn and time to spare?
So far I'm impressed the Game Cube. I don't know about Mario Sunshine myself....maybe Zelda, but I'm still loving Eternal Darkness.
As CHUD's Official Nintendo Whore, I say right on, Nick! Mario Sunshine is currently my most anticipated event of the year, followed closely by Metroid. There was a demo at TRU today, and I played for about 10 minutes. I'm hooked.

Just curious, was it anyone I know?

Did you know Tesh? He worked for me in Gwinnett Mall. Indian fellow. Small. Great sense of humor?
From the thread title I assume that you used to own a GC? Is it really a good idea to purchase a new system just for one game? Since the upcoming lineup for GC still looks pretty bare, which is the main reason I haven't bought one yet.
Some games are worth the price of admission alone. I was shocked as hell to see a demo of sunshine at the local comp/games store. Awesome stuff visually, but as well there's the fun-factor that Miyamato infuses into his games that can't be beat. I'd buy a cube all over again for it Sunshine. Just as I would when the new zelda finally comes our way.

If variety is your bag, you're best off with a ps2 for instant gratification. There's just so much good stuff on that system right now you cannot go wrong. As a recent owner of the cube, there are good games out there now, a lot more on the way...but waiting is the hard part. Cube's a good second or third system to have but not something you'd want as your only means as gaming.
Oh my God Nick....I remember Tesh. So he showed you Mario. He's still in the gaming store biz eh. Cool...
Fuck, I could be playing Mario Sunshine early if I had a job in the gaming store biz?

GameStop better call me, damn it. And soon.
Yeah, I recall meeting Tesh once. Seemed like a good guy.
"Resident Evil". Those two magic words. The ONLY reason I was ever remotely interested in a Gamecube.
Wow, anyone see IGNs new Metroid Prime stuff, hands on four levels and they are raving about them. Some great screens as well, still won't pass judgment until it is in my hands but buzz as good as this game is getting does make me smile.
Am I just a humorless, soulless old fart for pretty much not liking ANY Mario game ever, save for Donkey Kong?

I just don't get the appeal.
Uh, yeah, pretty much sums that up.
Although I must say, I don't love the Mario games with the rabid passion some fans show. Shit, it is just nice having any game come out for the Cube.
Picked up the old Game Cube tonight. Dennis (GOT) pointed me to a deal (Cube + Mario, save 10 bucks). Anyway, I now have all three systems, plus some old ones.

Friggin' CHUD.
Well, I now know when I'm getting my GameCube, on 11/3 when the limited edition platinum GC is released.
Justin (or anyone else who cares) Best Buy has Resident Evil for the Cube advertised for $29 today. Run over and pick it up cause it's a steal at that price.

That's a definite steal. I'd jump at it.
I'm buying a Gamecube of my friend for $60 just for this game.

Mario 64 is one of my favourites ever.

"It'sa meee....Marrio"
You folks hear? You've got to collect 120 "shines" in this game.

In other words....this thing will have incredible depth like Mario 64. I can't wait.....
That's only for the perfectionists, from what I heard there is very little plot/story to Mario Sunshine...
I hear there's a better plot than there has been in any of the Mario games....

But of course that isn't saying much.

Did you ever play the Mario games for plot, though?
No shit, it's Mario, you jump around from point A to point B, thats the plot.
