From Ign.com,
"August 16, 2002 - When Xbox owners pick up Shenmue II this November 6 they'll have the entire saga in their hands thanks to the "Shenmue: The Movie" DVD that will be bundled with the game.

In addition to the epic Shenmue II, last seen on Japanese Dreamcasts in the fall of 2001, gamers will be treated to 90 minutes of Ryo Hazuki's adventures from the original Shenmue on the DVD. By the time players are ready to start playing the sequel, they'll be all caught up on the events of the original Shenmue. The movie itself was initially released in Japanese theatres and later sold separately in stores.

Ryo's quest to avenge his father's murder has spanned multiple discs, multiple formats and now multiple consoles. Come November 6, you'll be able to enjoy Shenmue excitement even when you're not playing the game and examining beverage cans and classic Sega games.

Someone in the thread about Shenmue 2 a while back was asking about the Shenmue 2 Soundtrack. Well I found a site that has the whole thing. Both Shenmue 1 and 2's OST.

Shenmue 3 Official Screenshot coming soon. I'm in the process of getting them. Give me some time though. Don't know if they are real or not, but from what I hear they are pretty convincing.

After watching the trailer for the X-box version of Shenmue 2, I have learned that the game will not end where the DC version ended, but will go on further. So these screens may be from the X-box version of Shenmue 2 or could be really from Shenmue 3.

Some guy from the ShenmueDojo webstie said he got this email from a person that rather not be identified. As with all these kinds of things take it with a pinch of salt. But me being a very advid Shenmue fan, everything this guy says sounds accurate and true.

"Hey there, ok, where do I start. I worked at Sega of Germany (SOE German HQ, closed now) at the localization department. we usually made plans for language localization, packaging and stuff... I got fired when they closed the German Dep.... so I guess it's ok when I talk about some stuff here... Once in a while we had visitors from Sega of America, or even Sega of Japan. About a year ago, we had a few people over from AM2&3, I think they went to London and were invited by Sega of Europe, I suppose for promotional stuff or something. However, i got to talk to one guy on the way back to the Airport. His english was fluent, quite exceptional for a Japanese software developer... lol. So, being an avid Shenmue fan, this was the topic. Of course, I wanted to know about Shenmues future after pt. II, as the Dreamcast death was on everyone's lips at that time. At first he laughed, like he can't tell, or tell ME.

However, after he understood what kind of a Shenmue freak I am, and that I know the characters, Shenmues history and stuff, he kind of warmed up, and began to talk Shenmue. He confirmed that Shenmue is supposed to have 16 Chapters, but the Story finds a rather "satisfying" (but not final) end after Chapter 9 or 10, he did not remember. And here comes the meat. He told me that the storyline, the characters, the dialogue and like 80% of the locations (I tried to get some info about Tibet, no luck) until Chapter 10 (or 9) are actually finished. Most of the stuff is already prerendered in the current engine, though it is of course not polished, it basically consists of placeholder textures/animations from Shenmue I&II. Of course he did not reveal a damn thing about how it goes on, he only smiled when i mentioned our every day discussions about Baihu, Lan Di, Ziming and so on... but still, he revealed that Suzuki had the story for Shenmue finished for years, the Saturn Shenmue would prove that, as they had progressed until Chapter 5 in pre-renderings (btw, he mentioned that it still had VF Characters back then). He got a little uncomfortable talking about Yu Suzuki, I felt he kind of said more then he had planned to. Though, he said that no one knows when, if, and on what system the following chapters would appear. He said that it depends on how the sales go, how Sega would support AM2, and how much Sega would believe in Shenmue. Although the basics are finished, the most expensive part of Shenmue is the scripting, dubbing and debugging, along with the research & creation of textures (cant remember exactly), and only a successful Sega, AM2 and Shenmue II would allow them to invest in a third installment (note: at that time, Sega was facing hard times due to the DC's death, it looks a LOT brighter now).

Finally, he told me that Suzuki, and the greater part of AM2 take Shenmue very personal, and as long as there's a possibility, they will try to tell the story of Shenmue, he laughed and said in the worst case, they will have to do (he laughed) "10 more arcade driving games" (he pretended to steer with a wheel very hysteric and waved his head, lol) before they saved enough money to continue on Shenmue. That is about it, we talked about misc. other stuff while we approached the Airport. When he checked in and said goodbye, he pointed at a Canadian counter and said "Canada is a nice country" and smiled."

What he meant by the Canada thing is that in the Shenmue Orchestra Version CD the booklet inside shows Shenhua in what appears to be all the places from Chapters 1-10 will take place at. And in the next to last pic it has her in Canada dressed in a Canadian Mounty Uniform and it is snowing. The last picture is of her the in US.

I heard a rumor that "Shenmue" is Japanese for "tree," or a shenmue is a tree in Japan or something there of. Can you confirm or deny the rumors?
Dude, you are such an asshole for saying that on Chud without putting a spoiler warning on it first. That kind of shit is frowned upon with true gamers, not like you would know. You know damn well what the fuck you meant when you posted that there. Don't give me that rumor bullshit, I discussed this with you before, a lot of people do take these games seriously and for you knowing damn well that was a spoiler to come in here, and try to ruin something that people have been looking forward to is uncalled for. You already ruined it for Rob and he was really pissed, now you have ruined it for many other people who want to be shocked or suprised when they play the game. Maybe in your Madden games, things don't get that deep, but for us adventure and RPG gamers, we take spoilers very seriously.

Next time, on Gamerly Hills 90210...
It's not that big a deal, it's not his fault all the true fans didn't import the game on DC or else they'd already know that....
*sigh*
I mean, I had never imported a game in my life, but cared about Shenmue enough to do it.....and anyone who DIDN'T should expect spoilers from a game that has been out for close to a year.....
Actually, no they shouldn't.

If I get to see a movie earlier because of where I live, does that mean I have free reign to go tell you everything that happened?
Hey, I once saw a spoiler for The Gift and was pissed about it and Devin told me "Well, you should have seen it already....it's been out for a year."

But any die-hard fans of this series should have imported it, bottom line.

Plus, that spoiler isn't gonna ruin the game. There's MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more.
Why isn't this in my X-Box right now?

Anyhoo, I'd say if the game had been readily available in the US for over a year spoilers wouldn't be too big a deal. As it was available as import only, many fans who truly enjoyed the original (including myself) haven't played it. So a spoiler warning should have been slapped on that bitch.

As for the spoiler itself- what that guy wrote doesn't even make sense to me. Therefore, effectively, nothing has been spoiled for me.

Yes, thank you Verbal... so, can you tell me what is so great about it?
You wouldn't know if you haven't played it.

It's an epic story. It's not the biggest game ever, or even close, but it's the beginning of what will be the greatest revenge story ever told in videogames.

I shit you not. If you have a Dreamcast I can't believe you haven't played it yet.

GET THEE TO A GAMESTOP!
Nope, I never got talked into a Dreamcast. I got burned pretty badly on the SegaCD... which jaded me from Sega Consoles from that point on until the day I die.
The Dreamcast is great, though. You can get a used one cheap. If only to play Shenmue it's a great purchase....

But I can understand being burned on SegaCD. Sega learned from it with DC, though....

I agree with Cheese, although I bought Shenmue the first day it came out. I beat it, but still never understood what everyone thought was so great about it. I didn't like having to wait for everything, and the gameplay was more like watching a movie than playing it. Games like FF and MGS are as well, but at least they have TONS of gameplay in between cut scenes.

I didn't get engrossed in the story, some of the dialogue was laughable(not helped by the voice-acting) and all in all, there wasnt that much to do it the game.

I will probably play the 2nd one, because I've heard that most of the problems have been addressed, but the first wasn't really that great.

Is this the Shenmue where we finally find out if Sephiron is Zanarkand's father? Because I've heard rumors...
That's Sephiroth. And that's the funniest fake rumor i've ever heard.....

Um, no. Its Sephiroth. Nice try though.
